Many good things came from 2022, especially for Netflix. The streaming platform had hits almost every month of the year. Starting off with Ozark Season 4: Part One & Two, Stranger Things Season 4, Inventing Anna, Dahmer, Peaky Blinders, The Umbrella Academy Season 3, and finally the biggest hit of the year – Wednesday. However, my list would remain incomplete if I don’t mention The Sandman. Netflix could’ve had a very dull August but The Sandman emerged as an essential hit and turned out to be one of the best shows Netflix had in 2022. The hype for the show’s second season is immense. Just like many other shows, The Sandman had to halt production due to the Hollywood strikes. However, now that Hollywood is back on track, so is the show as it has resumed production.
The Sandman Season 2 Has Officially Started Filming!
On Nov. 29, which happens to be the 35th anniversary of Neil Gaiman’s original comic book, Netflix shared an image online from the set of The Sandman, revealing a first look at Season 2. Netflix TUDUM also revealed that Neil Gaiman also penned down a letter for the fans of the show saying good things are coming for the series.
“This week we officially restart production on the next sequence of stories of The Sandman for Netflix,” Neil Gaiman said in his letter. “Genius showrunner Allan Heinberg and the countless people in front of and behind the camera are building something endlessly special, and bringing these stories to life in a way that would once have been unimaginable.”
He added, “We never know where our dreams will take us. Thirty-five years ago today, the first issue of The Sandman was released and set many people and characters on paths that seemed, even at the time, so unlikely as to be impossible. Back then most comics featured superheroes. Sandman wasn’t that. It wasn’t like anything else, but magically (the magic consisting of hard work, youthful overconfidence, and some key people who believed in the vision) we were given the opportunity to tell the story I had in my head and bring Morpheus and the rest of the Endless to life.”
“A journey is beginning that will take us from Destiny’s garden to Hell, from the Heart of the Dreaming to Ancient Greece and revolutionary France, and from there to places even I cannot quite imagine on the screen. I will be patient. Good things are coming,” Gaiman further teased of the new episodes. Check out the first official set photo of The Sandman Season 2:
