The Witcher: Blood Origin is an upcoming period horror-fantasy series based in the world of Witcher. It is basically a prequel series that takes place thousands of years before the events of The Witcher and The Nightmare of the Wolf. In the rapidly expanding cinematic world of Witcher, this upcoming mini series will serve as a great appetizer before The Witcher Season 3. News is that we have a cool update about it thanks to Netflix’ Tudum event.
The Witcher: Blood Origin, All You Need To Know About It Netflix Tudum Event
Last month we received a worriesome update that The Witcher: Blood Origin had been reduced to a meagre 4 episodes from 6. So, its too short now even for a mini series and this is because of all the reshoots and cuts Netflix had to make. This got fans worried as it means the quality of the series might not be good but its time to put those doubts to rest as Netflix is back with some major updates regarding the series! So, first things first, Netflix has confirmed that The Witcher: Blood Origin will be released on December 25, 2022. Next, check out this incredible new poster for the series.
Aside from this, a bunch of important information about character played by Michelle Yeoh, Laurence O’Fuarain and Sophia Brown has been revealed. Michelle Yeoh didn’t say much about her lead character Scian except that she got to choose the eye color for Scian, which is the aquamarine. She described it as unique, ethereal and otherworldly. Moving on, O’Fuarain’s character Fjall has a very distinctive back tattoo written in the Hen Linge. The tattoo reads, “As you carried me, now I shall carry you into every battle, every brawl, to slay those who meet us on the field so that you may live as long as I hold breath.”
Brown’s character Eile is a musician and warrior who plays an instrument based on the nyckelharpa, a scandinavian intrument that features heavily in the soundtrack. We also got to know that Oscar nominee Minnie Driver has joined the cast of The Witcher: Blood Origin. Her character Seanchai, is a shape-shifting collector of old lore with the abilities to travel between time and worlds. Seanchai will serve as not just the narrator for the series, but will also have a full physical presence.
As reported earlier, The Witcher: Blood Origin will begin with our favorite bard Jaskier telling people the tale which will depict the events of the series. Apparently, being him, he’ll tell a glorious, fantasized and untrue version of the tale before being interrupted by Seanchai. Seanchai will call him out and go on to tell the true tale of the events as they happened. As you may know, the series will depict the event of Conjunction of Spheres, which is the time when magic and monsters entered the world and kicked off the Witcher universe. That aside, it will also showcase the origin of Eredin, aka, the King of the Wild Hunt.
So be sure to check out this mini-mini series, The Witcher: Blood Origin on 25 December 2022, when it will be made available only on Netflix. Seems like this Christmas would be a rather bloody one.
