The world of The Witcher has seen quite a bit of expansion in the recent past. Since 2019, we have seen Netflix executing all their Witcher plans including the main web series, and the anime “Nightmare of the Wolf”. They were both well received and now Netflix is taking it one more step forward with The Witcher: Blood Origin. But you might be wondering what exactly is it and why should you watch it?
What is The Witcher: Blood Origin?
The Witcher: Blood Origin is an upcoming horror fantasy series based in the world of Witcher. It is basically a prequel series that takes place thousands of years before the events of The Witcher and The Nightmare of the Wolf. So, if you expect to see your favorite characters from the series, well you won’t.
Based 1200 years before the current timeline, Blood Origin will be based in the time when conjunction of spheres took place. We will talk more about this in the next segment. Blood Origins is going to be a six-part miniseries inspired by the writings of Andrzej Sapkowski. Its main cast includes Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Michelle Yeoh, Lenny Henry, and Jacob Collins-Levy.
The Witcher: Blood Origins is all set to release this year. We saw the glimpses of it at the end of The Witcher Season 2 and it definitely looks promising. Good thing about it is that it will provide something new to the fans of the universe.
Why You Should Watch It
First of all, if you are fan, you need no reason to watch it and will do so, no matter what. But in case you are planning to skip it, here’s why you shouldn’t:
- Arrival of Monsters – The Conjunction of Spheres was an event which took place in the world of Witcher and brought monsters into this world. This phenomenon will be showcased in the Blood Origin and it would be a sight to behold.
- Arrival of Magic – Along with the monsters and chaos, magic also came into existence during the Conjunction of Spheres as a balancing force against the new creatures entering the world.
- Formation of Witchers – After monsters and magic came into existence, these fearsome mutants called the Witchers were created to protect the world of men. It would be really interesting to see how this happened and the first of the Witchers came into existence.
- The Elven Glory – Blood Origins will also explore the glorious reign of the elves before Dh’oine (humans) rose to prominence. It will showcase the battles between the two civilizations and the fall of the elves.
- Eredin (The King of the Wild Hunt) – Possibly, the most exciting thing for most of the fans is that Blood Origin will also showcase the origin of the Wild Hunt. Eredin or the King of the Wild Hut is probably the only character from the main saga who will appear in Blood Origin.
