The Witcher Season 3 has ended as so has most fans’ will to continue with this series. Although the best of the story and series is yet to come, after two mediocre seasons, one horrible spin-off series, and Cavill’s exit, fans have no expectations from the series. As you may be aware, Henry Cavill’s role of Geralt of Rivia will now be carried forward by Liam Hemsworth, who has been prepping himself up for the role since a few months. Some fans who have been eagerly waiting for more Witcher content are quite excited to see how well Liam plays Geralt. So, if you are still a Netflix Witcher fan who wants to know everything about it, you are at the right place.
When Will The Witcher Season 4 Release?
The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 came out on Netflix in July 2023 and served as the final season for beloved Henry Cavill. And although some fans are eager to see Liam Hemsworth take on the mantle, it won’t be happening for a while. The production for Season 4 was set to begin during fall 2023 but got delayed due to writer’s and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Good news is that the writers strike have now ended, however the SAG-AFTRA strikes still continue. But this means that the writing on the season can finally be resumed. As for the actors, the filming was supposed to start later anyways.
Also, as reported by Redanian Intelligence last week, some preparations are well underway for The Witcher Season 4 at Longcross Studios. From what they have heard so far, it isn’t in full pre-production mode yet, but something is definitely being cooked on a smaller scale. Bottom line is that, even if the filming somehow begins by the end of 2023, we’ll only be seeing The Witcher Season 4 hit Netflix by fall 2024 at the earliest.
Season 4 Cast, Characters, and Plot
As some of you may know, The Witcher Season 3 adapted the 2nd book in the main saga (4th overall) – Time of Contempt. Season 4 is all set to adapt the next book, Baptism of Fire, parts of which have already been adapted in Season 3’s second half. Without spoiling much, The Baptism of Fire features Geralt and his friend’s quest to find Ciri while Ciri explores herself alongside a group of thieves named The Rats. This book is widely regarded as one of the absolute best books in the saga as it not only gives the narrative a new shape but also introduces us to some of the best characters in the saga.
As for the cast of The Witcher Season 4, all surviving characters from the previous season would be returning alongside a few new faces. These new faces, of course, include Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia. Aside from that, South African actor Sharlto Copley has been cast as the ruthless bounty hunter named Leo Bonhart.
