The Witcher Season 3 has ended as so has most fans’ will to continue with this series. Although the best of the story and series is yet to come, after two mediocre seasons, one horrible spin-off series, and Cavill’s exit, fans have no expectations from the series. As you may be aware, Henry Cavill’s role of Geralt of Rivia will now be carried forward by Liam Hemsworth, who has been prepping himself up for the role since a few months. Some fans who have been eagerly waiting for more Witcher content are quite excited to see how well Liam plays Geralt but that isn’t the only casting choice fans have been waiting for. There is another highly popular Witcher character who is going to make his debut in Season 4.
Who Will Be Casted As Regis in The Witcher Season 4?
Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy or simply Regis is a beloved character from the Witcher Universe who was a major part of the last three books as well as The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine Expansion. So, if you are a Witcher game fan, you already know Regis and if you don’t here’s what you need to know. Regis is a higher vampire who is introduced in Baptism of Fire and later joins Geralt’s quest to find Ciri. Regis is one of the most powerful characters in the Witcher lore and has abilities like immortality, super strength, super speed, super reflexes, flying, invisibility, and mind control.
That aside, he is a brilliant alchemist and a vastly knowledgeable entity who often likes to correct people and impel facts in any conversation. He is sometimes annoying to the people within the lore but always lovable for the fans. After Geralt, Dandelion and Ciri, he is the most popular and most loved character from Witcher universe. At the end of The Witcher season 3 Geralt trains with Milva in the forests of Brokilon and then goes on a quest to find Ciri along with Jaskier to be later joined by Milva. So, the iconic Hanza (Geralt’s Company) from the books is now forming and hence Regis is going to be a major part of the series from Season 4 onwards.
So being such a popular and anticipated character, Netflix surely needs to reward fans with a great casting for Regis. As per Redanian Intelligence, Netflix is actually looking to cast a big name actor for the role of Regis. As per reports, they are trying to attract a major and very capable Hollywood star in his late 50s or 60s for this big role in the series. So far, the only big name stars involved in the main series have been Henry Cavill, Lars Mikkelsen, and MyAnna Buring. Now as Season 4 would either make or completely break the series, it is time for Netflix to step up their game and get fans back on track. Appropriately casting Regis would be at least one step in the right direction.
One of the leading fancast for Regis is Jessica Jones and Doctor Who fame David Tennant, who could absolutely nail the role of Regis and belongs to the exact age group Netflix is scouting for. Another popular choices for the role are Mads Mikkleson, Paul Bettany, and Jeremy Irons, all of whom would be terrific as Regis. But it is all predictions and noises till we officially receive a word from Netflix, which could be really soon. Netflix was actually supposed to start filming the season in September 2023 but the proceedings have been delayed by the SAG AFTRA strikes which might push the filming back to January 2024. However, it is possible that we might hear about the cast within a month or two.
