Right from the moment we saw the Rocket Boy’s trailer, we knew it was going to be an epic and it lived up to our expectations. Not only is Rocket Boys’ concept fresh and out of the box, but it is also executed with sheer brilliance. Since then fans have been for its season 2 and that’s exactly what we are going to talk about here.
Will there be Rocket Boys Season 2?
Yes, there will be a Rocket Boys season 2 as in February the creators confirmed the new season. While in an interview with Mid-Day, creator Nikhil Advani revealed that Rocket Boys season 2 is indeed under development. He clearly stated, “We shot both seasons together. After a well-deserved break, Abhay will work on the second season’s post-production.”
He went on to say that he has achieved his goal with Rocket Boys and engaged today’s youth in a story they need to hear. “The intention to create this show can be summed up in one line: It’s sad if the youth of this country has only cricketers and film stars as its heroes. They need to learn about people like Bhabha and Sarabhai who were not only scientists, but also Renaissance (men). They encouraged art and culture, and set up institutions. They paved the way for India to become what it has today,” he stated.
Having already filmed the season, the show might be ready by the fourth quarter of 2022, and it is very much possible that Rocket Boys season 2 releases by the end of 2022 or by February 2023 (like the first season).
Will Nambi Narayan Appear in Rocket Boys Season 2?
If you are unaware, R. Madahavan’s directorial debut called Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is all set to arrive on 1st July, 2022. The film is based on the life of ISRO scientist and engineer S. Nambi Narayan and you can read all about this film and its overly positive reviews here. Now being of the same era, the question about Nambi’s appearance in Rocket Boys surely arises.
It is likely, in fact very much possible, that Nambi Narayan appears in Rocket Boys season 2. He is one of the most celebrated rocket scientist of the country having received the Padma Bhushan in 2019. Rocket Boys season 2 will surely include the creation of ISRO by Vikram Sarabhai, Dr. A.P..J Abdul Kalam, and the others. Nambi Narayan as mentioned above also worked at ISRO and first met Vikram Sarabhai in 1966. Despite being offered a job in the US, Narayanan returned to India with expertise in liquid propulsion at a time when Indian rocketry was still solely dependent on solid propellants.
As a result, he worked closely with Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam and introduced the liquid fuel rocket technology in India in the early 1970s. Narayanan’s team developed the Vikas engine used by several ISRO rockets including the PSLV that took Chandrayaan-1 to the moon in 2008. Kalam and Narayan worked together at ISRO (then INCOSPAR) and Narayan once saved Kalam’s life as well during the early days. So, being a brilliant Rocket scientist who worked at ISRO and with Kalam, he surely has to make an appearance in Rocket Boys season 2. Obviously, he won’t be portrayed by Madahavan but we expect to see his character in season 2 and considering how accurate Rocket Boys has been so far, it is quite likely.
