Stranger Things star David Harbour reflects on watching the young co-stars of the series grow up. Premiering in 2016, the show left a mark on viewers with its nostalgic and heart-warming plot. The show focuses on a group of kids, one of whom possesses psychic powers. They work together to put an end to the horrors from an alternate dimension inflicting mayhem on Hawkins. When the show began, the actors were around the age of 12. However, by the time the finale season premieres, the same cast will be in their early twenties.

How the Cast’s Age Will Affect Stranger Things Final Season

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike, Harbour shares his thoughts on the young co-stars. “I’m sure there’s something to your question, but early on, it was very funny to see the sprouts of Stranger Things kids. We had, like, five of them that first season. The brood keeps growing, but they were all little saplings. So we all put bets on various ones going in various ways, and I was wrong about every single one of them. So it’s gratifying sometimes and not gratifying the next. But it’s been interesting to see kids surprise me in this business.”

During season one of Stranger Things, the young actors’ ages fit the characters because they were all around the age of 12. Now the actors have reached their late teens and early twenties. The series’ Season 5 hasn’t even started filming yet, and the ongoing strikes are causing further delays. Stranger Things was celebrated for casting age-appropriate stars, so keeping the roles young while the actors aren’t anymore would be conflicting.

One of the ongoing theories surrounding Stranger Things involves a time jump. David Harbour seemingly confirmed this theory. In an interview, he shared that the final season will not take place right after the events of season 4. This time jump will balance the character’s age with the actor’s current age.
