New Shows Releasing in October 2023

October TV shows lineup features several brand new series premiering such as The Fall of the House of Usher and Lessons in Chemistry. Here is a list of the top 8 new TV shows releasing in October 2023.

Found (Oct. 3, NBC)

Starring: Shanola Hampton, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, Kelli Williams, Brett Dalton, Karan Oberoi; EPs Nkechi Okoro Carroll, Lindsay Dunn, Sarah Schechter, DeMane Davis, Greg Berlanti. A PR specialist and her team concentrate on the fact that over 600,000 people are missing in the U.S. per year. Half of these people are people of color. However, the “everyday hero” is holding onto a secret of her own. Found was supposed to be NBC’s midseason series, but the network pushed it to fall so it could contain original scripted content.

The Spencer Sisters (Oct. 4, The CW)

Starring: Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber. Mother-daughter duo Victoria and Darby Spencer are thrust into investigating crimes. Victoria decides to become a private detective when her daughter Darby returns home having resigned from her job as a police officer. The two women form the Spencer Sisters Detective Agency. They start tackling several cases in the fictional town of Alder Bluffs.

Sullivan’s Crossing (Oct. 4, The CW)

Starring: Chad Michael Murray, Scott Patterson, trouble, and Morgan Kohan. Sullivan’s Crossing is adapted from Robyn Carr’s bestselling novel of the same name. It follows the journey of neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan, whose life turns upside down after finding herself in legal trouble. She temporarily leaves Boston and takes refuge in her childhood home run by her estranged father Sully. Maggie must deal with her past and present, and a mysterious newcomer complicates matters.

The Fall of the House of Usher (Oct. 12, Netflix)

Starring: Bruce Greenwood, Carla Gugino, Mary McDonnell, Carl Lumbly, Mark Hamill, Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller. Based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, The Fall of the House of Usher is possibly Mike Flanagan’s last project with Netflix. He has moved his company’s deal to Amazon. The ruthless Usher siblings have built a pharmaceutical empire. They discover the family’s secrets when the heirs start dying at the hands of an enigmatic woman from the past.

Frasier (Oct. 12, Paramount+)

Starring: Kelsey Grammer, Anders Kieth, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Jack Cutmore-Scott, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro; EPs Chris Harris, Joe Cristalli, Jordan McMahon, Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo. American sitcom Frasier consists of 10 new episodes. Frasier Crane is living back in Boston with new relationships and struggles. Among the original cast members of the show, Peri Gilpin will guest star as Roz, and Bebe Neuwirth will also return as Lilith.

Lessons in Chemistry (Oct. 13, Apple TV+)

Starring: Brie Larson, Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, Stephanie Koenig, Patrick Walker; EPs Lee Eisenberg, Brie Larson. Lessons in Chemistry is set in the early 1950s. It follows a scientist who accepts a cooking show hosting job after being fired from the lab. She then “sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives — and the men who are suddenly listening — a lot more than recipes.” The show is based on Bonnie Gramus’ bestselling novel of the same name.

Living for the Dead (Oct. 18, Hulu)

Starring: Narrated by Kristen Stewart; EPs David Collins, Michael Williams, Kristen Stewart, Rob Eric, Renata Lombardo, CJ Romero, Elaine White. Queer Eye creators introduce “five fabulous, queer ghost hunters criss-cross the country, helping the living by healing the dead.” The group explores haunted places and pushes the edges to accept both the dead and the living.

Fellow Travelers (Oct. 28, Paramount+)

Starring: Jonathan Bailey, Matt Bomer, Jelani Alladin, Allison Williams, Noah J. Ricketts; EPs Matt Bomer, Ron Nyswaner, Robbie Rogers, Dee Johnson, Daniel Minahan. An epic love story and thriller Fellow Travelers is based on Thomas Mallon’s novel, focusing on two men who meet in McCarthy-era Washington. The longline reads, “They begin a romance just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on ‘subversives and sexual deviants,’ initiating one of the darkest periods in 20th-century American history.” Fellow Travelers follows the group through the 1960s Vietnam War protests, 1970s disco hedonism, and 1980s AIDS crisis.
