Austin Butler as Human Torch

The Fantastic Four are Marvel Comics’ first superhero family and after a long wait they’re finally entering the MCU. They’re definitely one of the most famous Marvel characters in the comics. I would like to say the same about their adaptations but we all know how that story goes. After numerous failed attempts to bring the Fantastic Four to the big screen, fans had long given up hopes of seeing a good Fantastic Four film but after Disney acquiring Fox, the MCU has their rights. It was very important for Marvel to make their reboot the best out there and given the competition, that shouldn’t be a hard job. At San Diego Comic Con’22 Kevin Feigi announced that there a Fantastic Four reboot would be coming in Phase 6.

There have been many names associated to this project, even the great Steven Spielberg was rumored to helm the reboot. Thankfully at Disney’s D23 Expo, Kevin Feigi announced that WandaVision’s director Matt Shakman would be helming the reboot. However, no cast announced even if we all expected it. Anyways, the latest update we got about the film is that Marvel has hired the writers who are going to pen down their version of the Fantastic Four. However, now as we’re wondering and waiting what the cast looks like? A major actor has suddenly entered into the race as he is campaigning for a major character.

Fantastic Four: Who is Austin Butler Playing?

Last week we got an update that John Krasinski won’t return to play Reed Richards in the MCU, along with this we’ve had a lot of names coming in at frequent intervals of time and the latest being Elvis himself or the actor who played. Buzz Luhrmann’s Elvis starred Austin Butler as the titular character and now it seems like he is interested to join the MCU as none other than Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch himself.

This update came from Industry insider Jeff Sneider, who while speaking on The Hot Mic podcast revealed that the actor is keen on joining the MCU, Sneider revealed that he had heard Butler’s agents were “putting him up for the Human Torch” as Marvel has begun the casting process for the 2025 Fantastic Four reboot. Sneider also said, “X-Men and Fantastic Four are Marvel’s two crown jewels coming up, so, all the actors in town want to be part of those two franchises.”

Austin’s career has been going well with his inclusion as Charles Watson in Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Elvis star has been a part of numerous TV shows and movies, his recent choices suggests his quality of working improving. With this critically acclaimed performance in Elvis that has everyone stunned and his recent addition to Villeneuve’s Dune part two, his career seems to be on the right track. To conclude, Austin Butler looks Elvis Presley in the film and definitely feels like Elvis Presley in the film.

I know it is early but I’d like to start the Oscar chatter. I’d very much like to see Austin win an Oscar for his portrayal of Elvis like Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody. If I was in any committee I’d hand him that Golden Trophy just this minute as no other male actor has impressed me more than Butler with his performance.

The Fantastic Four reboot is slated to release in theatres on 14th February 2025.
