Wonka Runtime Revealed!

Willi Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a highly influential film that came out in the 70s. The character of Willi Wonka has become so iconic in pop culture ever since then. In the film, he was portrayed in a villainous light, so, the casting of Timothee Chalamet in the upcoming spin-off Wonka, was questionable for me. However, after seeing the trailer it is clear that the man can do no wrong. Chalamet is as charismatic as he can be. The trailer looked amazing to me with good visuals and a fantastic story. It is really a different take on Willi Wonka. I love how they’ve built the world of the story and added a dramatic flare to the vibe. The treatment is on point, something we can expect from Paul King (Paddington, Paddington 2). Wonka (trailer here) is one of the films that won’t be delayed despite the Hollywood strikes.  As the film is just a couple of months away from release, we have found out the rumored runtime of the spin-off.

Wonka Is Surprisingly A Short Affair!

The Movie Database has reported that Wonka will be one hour and 53 minutes (or 113 minutes). For comparison, that will make the Willy’s origin story two minutes shorter than Tim Burton’s 2005 adaptation of Roald Dahl’s novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (115 minutes). However, the film will be 13 minutes longer than 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (100 minutes). The film is based on the extraordinary character of Willy who is at the center of affairs in Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The upcoming spin-off reimagines Willy Wonka as a young man chock-full of ideas and as the official synopsis reads, “determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time—proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible,”

Timothee Chalamet’s Wonka will release in theatres near you on 15th December 2023.
