Just last month we were talking about Argylle, Matthew Vaughn’s newest directorial venture. The Henry Cavill starrer looks like one of the most unorthodox spy thriller movies you’ve ever seen. However, if it is coming from the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn then unorthodox is a given. The man is responsible for giving us films like the Kingsman franchise and Kick-Ass. Speaking of Kick-Ass, the Marvel IP movie came out in 2010 and was a commercial and critical success. As a result, a sequel was announced but unfortunately it didn’t stick the landing with both critics and the audiences. However, everyone saw the potential the material even the director. So, he decided to reboot the series and start afresh. Today, we have the filming timeline for the Kick-Ass reboot.
Kick-Ass Reboot: Filming Begins Next Year!
At the New York Comic Con 2023, Matthew Vaughn was present in a panel where he was asked about his much awaited Kick-Ass reboot. The writer/director not only re-confirmed he is moving ahead with a new incarnation of the comic book franchise, but that he is aiming to start filming in 2024. Vaughn said, “Next year we’re rebooting Kick-Ass and we’re making Kingsman 3… Kick-Ass sort of changed people’s perception of what a superhero film is at that time. So we’re doing it again. So it’s none of the characters from the other Kick-Ass. We’d like to bring them back after the reboot, but this reboot is just going off on a tangent that I really can’t talk about. But it’s fun.” None of the original characters won’t be back for the project, he has ideas for their returns in a potential sequel.
Kick-Ass reboot doesn’t have a release date yet.
