X-Men ’97 is an upcoming animated Marvel series. It serves as a revival of X-Men: The Animated Series (1992–97), and the plot will continue where the original series left off. In the recent past, Marvel has heavily invested in animated TV shows like What If…? Season 1 & 2. The studio is also making Spider-Man: Freshman Year that will be a Spider-Man x Daredevil crossover. X-Men ’97 has been a serious victim of Marvel delays. The series was initially supposed to start streaming in 2023. Everyone assumed that it was one of those Marvel projects that will always be in a creative limbo. Well, not anymore. Marvel has finally revealed the release window for the animated series.
X-Men ’97 Will Start Streaming Sooner Than You Expect!
Trusted scooper, Alex Perez has finally ended the long agony of Marvel fans by revealing the release window of Marvel’s upcoming animated show: X-Men ’97. Perez took to her outlet, The Cosmic Circus and revealed that The 10-episode season will reportedly premiere on Disney+ in mid to late March 2024. The series was first announced by Marvel in November, 2021.
The original X-Men: The Animated Series ran on Fox Kids Network for five seasons and 76 episodes. The new show will be set several months after the finale of the original show called, “Graduation Day”. The plot of X-Men ’97 have largely been kept under wraps but what we do know is Magneto will be joining the titular team in Professor X’s absence.
The attempt on Charles Xavier’s life in the original series finale has led to this wave of increased sympathy towards mutants and understanding. Now, the cast of the show is largely from the original animated series as many actors are returning like Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Lenore Zann as Rogue, Christopher Britton as Mister Sinister and George Buza as Beast.
