Jumanji 4

In 2017, Sony Pictures announced a part sequel, part spin-off to the 1995 hit film called Jumanji and gave it a new generation spin to it. The film had an ensemble cast including some big names like Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Nick Jonas. The Jake Kasdan directorial was a major hit critically as well as grossed almost a billion dollars at the box office. The franchise returned in 2019 and was a colossal success as well. As the franchise is like a golden hen for Sony they won’t conclude it so soon. A fourth film of the Jumanji franchise is in development and here’s everything we know about Jumanji 4.

Everything We Know About Jumanji 4!

No official release date of Jumanji 4 has been announced. However, a fourth Jumanji film and a trilogy of the new generation films was always in Sony’s plan. After the premiere of Jumanji: The Next Level, Dwayne Johnson addressed the cliffhanger of the sequel and also promised a future reveal on Instagram almost immediately.

However, the development of the film took a severe hit because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking with Collider, Jake Kasdan revealed, “just getting into the conversation for Jumanji 4 when the COVID-19 pandemic began, and even then, it was the earliest days of trying to figure out what that would be.” In 2021, producer Hiram Garcia revealed to ComicBook.com that, “we have a really fun pitch” and “a big vision for Jumanji 4, and once Jake Kasdan and Dwayne Johnson finish Red One, Jumanji is going to be on deck.”

Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ new collaboration called Red One is expected to hit theatres on November 15th, 2024. So, the production of the fourth film will definitely begin after that. Meaning the fourth film is still a distant dream. When it comes to the cast of Jumanji 4, the main cast is expected to reprise their roles. Director Jake Kasdan mentioned how it is all about the foundation,

“The whole thing, to me, is built on the foundation of those people. The game cast are these brilliant movie stars, these iconic people.” He further added, “The thing that’s easy to not fully appreciate in the mix of how they work is that the kids are just brilliant. And Alex [Wolff] in particular just really… he plays that character in such a funny, smart way. He’s quietly a really essential part of it.”

It’s also worth noting that, along with household names like Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, Jumanji: The Next Level expanded the franchise’s cast with the addition of Danny Devito, Danny Glover, and Awkwafina. The call list is only rumored to expand even more as, according to the rumor mill, Jumanji 4 could include the likes of The Mummy’s Brendan Fraser.

We all know that the mid credit scene of Jumanji: The Next Level showed all the animals from the jungle escaping and entering the real world. We can assume that the game’s avatars did too. Kevin Hart had also revealed that Jumanji will be the final chapter and will tie up all the loose ends of the franchise. The film is often referred to as Jumanji: The Final Level but the film isn’t officially titled.

Jumanji 4 doesn’t have an official release date at the time of writing.
