The widely anticipated Disney Plus Star Wars show Obi-Wan Kenobi turned out to be a major disappointment full of below average and outright bad episodes. But finally, in Episode 5 we saw some form of redemption at least character and plot wise. Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 5 debuted a few hours ago and fans cannot stop talking about it. While episode 4 was widely disliked by most viewers, I thought it was still better than the previous really bad episodes. However, most of you will agree when I say this episode is the best one so far, even though it’s still not very good TV. Check out our full review of the same down below.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Delivers Its Best Episode Yet
One thing that I have criticized a lot previously, were its action sequences which were poorly choreographed and performed. But this episode manages to deliver considerably good action and a lot of use of the Force. Also, finally, we got to see more of Darth Vader in his prime after multiple cameos throughout the season; and not just Vader, but also Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker. It was awesome to see Kenobi and Anakin train in the flashback, which was flawlessly intertwined with what was happening in the present.
One think I’d like to point out though, is that Hayden’s performance as Anakin still hasn’t improved XD. However, Darth Vader scenes in this episode were excellent and once again reminded us of his power. The man single handedly stopped a spaceship, tear it down to bits, and was this unstoppable force of darkness. His final showdown with Reva was just mind-blowing as he almost effortlessly beat the crap out of her. I really loved the action choreography of this scene as well as the flashback training sequence. However, I didn’t particularly enjoy the infiltration action sequence as it was very messy and poorly performed. Anyways, there was a lot of character development in this episode and the next section focuses on that.
Kenobi Episode 5 Redeems Reva
Ingram’s Reva wasn’t a compelling villain at all but this episode succeeded in making her character better and basically not a villain at all. Apparently, she was nearly killed by Anakin during the events on Order 66 and was plotting revenge ever since the beginning of the series. The reason why she was hunting Kenobi was also made clear as she resented how he didn’t stop Anakin while carrying out Order 66. In her overconfidence, she decided to take on Vader all alone and got severely injured.
Why did she choose that? Why didn’t the ruthless Darth Vader kill her? How the hell was Grand Inquisitor still alive? No one knows because the plot and writing of this series is still very silly and lazy. Indira Varma’s Tala got a moment to shine as she sacrificed herself to help the others escape. She is a wonderful actress who has delivered a stellar performance throughout the series and she deserves much more than this below average series. Honestly, McGregor and Verma are just too good for a lazy series like this. Kumail Nanjiani’s character was back again and just like episode 2, he was still useless. As for VFX, production design, and sound design, they are consistently good throughout the series. So, no complaints from that perspective, but the writing… man.
Final Verdict – The consistently good visuals, Darth Vader, and massively improved action in this episode, manage to somewhat redeem this show but it still isn’t close to good Star Wars.
