Despite having a holiday 2022 release date that is far too near, Warner Bros Games hasn’t yet provided many details about the upcoming Harry Potter open-world action RPG game. In fact, it appears like the publisher provides more Hogwarts Legacy leaks than news, including pre-order and DLC information on the game’s official website.
Another inadvertent leak has now been discovered by eagle-eyed fans on the r/HarryPotterGame subreddit, which appears to show the game’s HUD or at least a prototype of it. As found by YouTuber Agito, it is only visible on one frame at 6:14 and requires some Photoshop manipulation to be made out of the black screen. The image below is a polished version created by user Darkstar on the Hogwarts Legacy Discord server. It features a minimap, power, or health on the top left and four magic spell abilities on the bottom right.
Hogwarts Legacy UI Hidden In The Game’s State Of Play Reveal
Don’t expect the Hogwarts Legacy HUD to look exactly like this when it arrives, as fans themselves acknowledge that this is probably a placeholder UI. Nevertheless, it gives us a general idea of the spells that players might have access to in the game. During the Sony event in March, more than 14 minutes of Hogwarts Legacy PS5 gameplay were shown.
Based on the picture and in the context of the clip, the four spells the character may be able to use are Accio (which brings things to the user and is represented by the blue icon), Wingardium Leviosa (which causes objects to levitate and is symbolized by the gold icon), Lumos (which illuminates the area around the caster and is shown using the grey icon), and Expelliarmus (which is used by the player in the seconds that follows this image in the video).
It was initially planned to be released in 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC under Warner’s Portkey Games banner. Though, last year, the company pushed back the game’s release date to 2022. It recently confirmed intentions to release Gotham Knights by WB Games Montreal in October, along with Hogwarts Legacy this year (including a previously revealed Switch version).
