2023 was a marvellous year for Bollywood. At the start of the year, people had written off the industry calling it a dead business, however, the very first major release of the year proved everyone wrong – Pathaan. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer grossed over 1000 crores worldwide. That’s just insane. Later that year, Gadar 2 surpassed all expectations and ruled the box office followed by another Shah Rukh Khan starrer – Jawan achieving the 1000 crores feat. So many successes and yet if you look back, they’re not the most talked about film of 2023. That only and only goes to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. The film had cast such a strong impression on the audience ever since its first teaser. After the theatrical release, the amazing music album and controversy surrounding the film kept it relevant and Animal emerged as a colossal box office success. The film had corrupted into everyone’s lives with its memes and viral songs. However, if you happened to miss this box office phenomenon in theatres, then here’s when you can watch it at home.
Animal Will Be Available To Stream Very Soon!
We all knew that Animal is coming to Netflix after its theatrical stint. The makers of the film had signed a deal with the streaming giant before it arrived in theatres. However, it has been over a month and a half since the film’s release. When is it going to debut online? Well, according to a recent report from Economic Times, Animal is suspected to have a global digital release on January 14th or 15th around the holiday of Makar Sankranti. However, the film won’t start streaming on Netflix until this Republic Day – January 26th, 2024.
A Twitter handle called OTTGuru spilled the beans on the potential date of this blockbuster’s digital debut. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the handle admins wrote, “Animal OTT release, Jan 26!)”. Although, one has to note that neither Netflix nor the makers of Animal have confirmed or denied this release date. Vanga had also teased that the digital version of the film will be longer. The director revealed, “I was editing the version because there were some problems in 1-2 shots. I’m using different and a few more shots from the same take. One thing I felt was I should have left the 3 hours 30 minutes instead of 3 hours 21 minutes. I don’t know why I edited those 8-9 minutes. Now, I will be using those 5-6 minutes extra”
Since its release on December 1st, Animal has grossed over rs.850 crores worldwide despite backlash from critics. By far, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial is the most successful film from last December despite having stiff competition like Sam Bahadur, Dunki and Salaar. Animal stars Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Bobby Deol, Shakti Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
