I have stated previously that 2023 was not a great year for movies but if someone asked me which studio produced awesome films throughout the year then it has to be A24. Since its inception, the studio seems to understand the combination of commerce and art. In a landscape where arthouse films are rarely encouraged, A24 often dares to back projects and filmmakers to make niche films and tries to deliver them to the largest audience possible. One such film the studio made last year was Dream Scenario starring Nicolas Cage. The film had a wacky premise of a man suddenly appearing in everyone’s dreams and how his newfound stardom affects him. Once again much like all A24 films, Dream Scenario received widespread critical acclaim. However, the film didn’t enjoy success with box office numbers. Made on a budget of $10 million, Dream Scenario has earned only about 8.1 million since its theatrical debut. For those of you who have watched the film and loved it, here’s when you can buy a physical copy of it.
Dream Scenario Physical Media Release Date Has Been Announced!
According to a new listing from Dvdreleases, Dream Scenario will be available for purchase on physical media formats like DVD and Blu-ray from February 27th, 2023. The Kristoffer Borgli directorial was already released on digital and VOD platforms on December 22nd 2023, thanks to its low box office score. Based on the physical media release date, we can also predict the film’s streaming debut. It is often observed that any film’s physical media and streaming release date are always nearby.
For instance, take the example of another A24 film. Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla had a DVD and Blu-ray release date on February 13th, 2023 and just today we got the update that the film will start streaming from February 23rd, 2024. Only ten days apart. This means that we can expect Dream Scenario to start streaming around the first week of March. On which platform will it stream? Well, A24 doesn’t have their own streaming service so Paramount+ and Showtime appear to be the studios’ preferred streaming platforms. However, Priscilla started streaming on Warner Bros’ Max. So, you never know.
