I think it is fair to say that 2023 was not kind to superhero flicks. In total seven major superhero films were by Marvel and DC studios in 2023 – Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Flash, Blue Beetle, The Marvels and  Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Out of these seven, only one film – GOTG Vol. 3 tasted success, all others are box office failures. The latest being Aquaman 2, least to say the film is struggling at the box office. Made on a massive budget of $200 million, the film has only grossed $378.2 million since its release on the Christmas weekend. There is no way the film will generate a profit, at best it will break even. Which is why Warner Bros. has decided to make the film available digitally very soon. Along with it, we have also found out the film’s physical media release date. Keep reading to know more.

Aquaman 2 Physical Media Release Date Revealed!

According to a new listing on dvdreleases, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be available for purchase on physical media formats like DVD and Blu-ray from March 12th, 2024. This is coming after the film’s online release date was preponed by two weeks because of its lacklustre box office performance. Based on the physical media release date, we can easily predict the film’s streaming release date as well. It is observed that any film’s physical media and streaming release dates are always nearby.

So, if the film is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray mid March then expect the film’s streaming debut to ten days before or after that date. Expect a late February or an early March release date. This is a glance at DC’s previous theatrical-to-streaming windows this year, Blue Beetle notably expanded the window by over 20 days this fall:

  • Shazam! Fury of the Gods: March 17-May 23 (67 days)
  • The Flash: June 16-August 25 (70 days)
  • Blue Beetle: August 18-November 17 (91 days)

The sequel just like the original film is helmed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa in the titular role along with Yahya Abdul Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm aka Ocean Master, Amber Heard as Mera and Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna.
