My day was about to end as I was just looking out for some spicy news to write my last article. Well, I didn’t expect to find the best trailer of the year. I just randomly opened my Instagram and witnessed my feed blowing up as Warner Bros. just dropped the second trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s magnum opus – Dune: Part Two. If you read my articles then you already know that Dune: Part Two is my most anticipated film of the year. I was floored by the first trailer they released in May and the same is the case with the second one. The second trailer has everything the first trailer did but with more emotions. The trailer is 3 minutes and I generally don’t appreciate long trailers but this one is special. Watch it below. I might just make your day as well.
Dune: Part Two Just Gave Us The Trailer Of The Year!
Despite being a long trailer, Villeneuve manages to give us no hint at the plot of the sequel, just highlights the central theme – the dilemma of revenge. Will Paul take revenge that will claim many lives? Will he destroy Shaddam IV and Baron or will he stop this disastrous war? The legend of Paul Atreides that was promised to us in Dune: Part One is coming true in the sequel. The trailer asks almost everyone, do they believe in Paul? Well, I do. The Kwisatz Haderach or Lisan- al- Gaib whatever you call him is here. The prophecy is coming true.
As mentioned in trailer 1, Dune was a more brighter film but the sequel uses a darker shade of brown in its visuals, this might be a post production call. Even the faces of the actors look darker. Other than this, the footage looks as epic as Part One. The iconic background score of Hans Zimmer sent chills down my spine when it played. It was the perfect time to use the score. Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha looks absolutely stunning and menacing. He will certainly spice things up.
I’m sure the film will bag the Best Cinematography at next year’s Oscars as well. Sorry Oppenheimer but Dune: Part Two is the most beautiful film of 2023. I am overwhelmed by the trailer as this is my most anticipated film of the year. I can say that the word “EPIC” was truly invented for this film. I am just waiting for Paul to ride the sandworm. Just like Part One, I think Dune: Part Two will end up being the best film of the year. I just hope the academy recognizes this as well. My mind is blown, is yours?
