Just yesterday I did an article talking about all the options James Gunn has lined up for his iteration of the Superman. Many screen tests with David Corenswet, Tom Brittney, and Nicholas Hoult were held. In which they made them do scenes as both Clark Kent and Superman. Corenswet tested with Emma Mackey, while Brittney was paired up with Phoebe Dynevor, followed by Hoult and Rachel Brosnahan. Emma Mackey even came back to do more screen tests with other Superman contenders as well. The report also stated that a decision regarding Superman and Lois Lane’s casting may be coming in this week and I didn’t know how accurate this statement was. As the new day dawned, DC gifted the fans a huge present by announcing the new Superman and Lois Lane for James Gunn’s reboot.

Superman: Legacy – DC Has Finally Heard The Fans!

Deadline reported that James Gunn’s quest for his Superman and Lois Lane has come to an end as the inspiring filmmaker has finally found the Man of Tomorrow who will lead Superman: Legacy and DCU. David Corenswet who appeared in Ti West’s Pearl and is in the upcoming sequel to Twister. The actor was in several fancasts, DC fans pleaded the studio to finalize the actor as Henry Cavill’s replacement. Along with him, Rachel Brosnahan has also been announced as Lois Lane. The casting also points towards how DC is trying to give the fans what they want.

Casting Corenswet is definitely a foot in the right direction. As for Brosnahan, an earlier report has already told us that James Gunn was blown away by her audition for Lois Lane, so her casting doesn’t surprise me. I wished Emma Mackey was cast although, I understand she doesn’t look like a generic white American woman. Her features are very French. All past Lois Lane actresses share a similar look, something which Brosnahan possesses. DC boss James Gunn shared the report from THR on Twitter and confirmed both the castings.

The tweet read, “Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people).” The other two actors who came close to the role of Superman were Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney.

Superman: Legacy is the first movie in the new DC slate and is supposed to release on 11th July 2025.
