Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the latest addition to the Monsterverse franchise that started back in 2014 with Godzilla. The follow-up movies to the film opened up the world for us by introducing King Kong into the mix and made a cinematic universe full of Kaijus. The New Empire is described as the “Endgame” of the Monsterverse with two of the most powerful Kaijus, Kong and Godzilla joining forces to stop the two new threats to Earth – Shimo and Skar. The hype surrounding the Godzilla vs Kong sequel is insane but based on the track record of these films I have to question the quality of the film. So, is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire worth the hype? Well, that’s a question only the people who have seen the film can answer. So, when will we get the reviews from the critics?
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Review Embargo Will Lift Up Soon!
After some intensive searching on the internet I have finally found out the social media embargo lift up date for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. According to Steven Weintraub who is an editor at Collider, the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire social embargo lifts Monday, March 25th at 10:30 PM PT. I feel this is good news.
Generally, the social media embargo lift up date is an indication for a studio’s faith in their product. Let me explain. The embargo lifting up on 25th i.e., four days before the film’s theatrical release date is a good sign because this means the studio is not afraid of critics spreading a bad word of mouth. In fact, they use these reviews as marketing material to promote their film.
Last year, critically and commercially successful films like Barbie and Oppenheimer both lifted their embargos 2-3 days before their release. While critical and box office bombs like Meg 2: The Trench and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom both lifted their review embargos on the day of the film’s release. Check out Steven Weintraub’s post on X:
