Henry Cavill might not be James Bond, yet, but he has certainly got a spy adventure under his belt. Argylle is an upcoming Apple TV+ film which is based on Elly Conway’s yet-to-be-released novel of the same name. The basic premise of the film is, “Henry Cavill’s character is a former superspy who lost his memory and was convinced by his former employers that he was just a book author…until his memories started coming back”. Matthew Vaughn admits he cast Cavill because the actor was “born to play Bond.” Well, he is not wrong. Vaughn himself is no stranger to spy thrillers as the man is responsible for giving us films like the Kingsman franchise and Kick-Ass. After a long wait, the first official footage of the film is released and it couldn’t be better.
Argylle Teaser Introduces A Lovely Cat!
When I heard that Argylle’s trailer was out, I expected a minute long sleek trailer with Henry Cavill looking as close to as James Bond. However, I think defying everyone’s expectations the teaser actually focuses on a cat. I mean I love cats and this is definitely one cute feline but this is not what I expected from Argylle’s first official footage. We don’t see Henry Cavill at all. We simply hear an unknown character whisper as a voiceover, “once you discover the secret, don’t let the cat out of the bag.”
This is accompanied with visuals where the above mentioned cat is let out of the bag. Now, I don’t know whether this line is simply there as a incredible pun or is it actually giving us a hint of the plot. Based on all the diamond cutouts throughout the trailer, we can assume that there are diamonds involved in the film. So, does the cat have them? I mean are they inside the cat? No idea. If it turns out that the cat has nothing to do with the plot then this is an amazing teaser for a film. Anyways, the end of the teaser promises an official trailer tomorrow.
We will definitely see Henry Cavill in that one. I’m wondering how the above mentioned synopsis will tie into this weird teaser. Only Bryce Dallas Howard and Sam Rockwell feature in the teaser out of the film’s all star cast. Argylle stars Henry Cavill in the lead role along with Bryce Dallas Howard, Dua Lipa, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Haruka Ohshima, Ariana DeBose, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston and Catherine O’Hara.
