John Wick is an action-thriller franchise that stars Keanu Reeves in the lead role. The 2014 film was extremely well received by the critics and did wonders at the Box Office. Keanu Reeves’ career was practically resurrected by John Wick as, if you see his career trajectory. He was a big deal in the late 90s and early 2000s because of the Matrix films and Speed. However, after he refused to act in Speed 2 as the script was outrageous he was kind of banned from Hollywood. He did small roles but nothing major. It wasn’t until John Wick, which no one thought would become such a beloved franchise, Reeves’ career started breathing again. The original film has two follow-ups and both were bigger and badder than the previous installments.
John Wick Chapter 4 is a part of the two-part finale that the creators have planned for Reeves’ John Wick. After a long wait we finally have some footage from Chapter 4, thanks to SDCC’22. Let’s take a look.
John Wick Chapter 4 Teaser: Wick is in Paris?
The extremely short teaser offers us our first look at Bill Skarsgard’s character. We see also see Lawrence Fishburne returning, that is something we’d predicted given the ending of Chapter 3. Wick was ex-communicated in the previous film. In the teaser, he is at least momentarily in Paris as there is shot of Wick walking to a meeting and the Eiffel Tower is clearly visible in the background. That meeting is with Bill Skarsgard.
The original cast of the film will be returning along with new additions mentioned above. We can see from the teaser that the film is more action packed than ever, with potentially huge action set pieces and of course bloodier than the previous films. I hope this film offers us more insight into the world of assassins as that is always something that has intrigued me. Bill Skarsgard’s character is unknown but he feels important to the story. The story of the film is pretty much under the wraps until now.

If you remember the ending of Chapter 3 an injured John was delivered to Bowery King for protection. That was a set up for the next film. Laurence Fishburne who plays the Bowery King had previously mentioned that this relationship between Bowery and John in only going to grow deeper than it did last time. In an interview with Collider Fishburne mentioned,
“I should be going to Berlin within another couple of months or so, I read the script. It’s really, really cool. As much as it’s the same world as the other three films, it’s just deeper. It’s much deeper in terms of the code of the assassin. And the relationship that he has with one character in particular who I think Mr. Watanabe is playing…is really the heart and soul of it.”
Creator Derek Kolstad previously told to Collider, “I’m actually not involved in four and five. No. At a certain stage of the studio will tell you, your creation is graduated, and you wish it well. I’m still close with Chad [Stahelski], still close with Dave [Leitch], and I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m excited to see.”
The John Wick franchise is so big right now there is a spin-off under development. The details of it are scant but of what we know it will be TV expansion of the franchise and will follow the infamous assassins world hotel.
John Wick: Chapter 4 is slated to release to on 24th March 2023.
