Mean Girls was a 2004 movie directed by Mark Waters with a screenplay from Tina Fey. The film focused on “Cady joining a new public school and befriending Janis and Damian. They warn Cady to avoid the Plastics, a group led by Regina. Things get worse when she falls in love with Aaron, Regina’s ex-boyfriend.” The film was made on a budget of $17 million and it earned $130 million worldwide. The film was a huge success critically and financially. Seven years later, a sequel was spawned with no relation to the original. As expected, the film was a cash grab made to capitalize on the first film’s success but it didn’t even do that – the film was a huge financial and critical success. Twenty years since the original, a reboot is in the works and here’s a list of all the actors and characters featuring in the film.

- Angourie Rice will play Cady Heron, the main character in the Mean Girls reboot. She will be taking over the role from Lindsay Lohan.
- Reneé Rapp will play Regina George, the main antagonist and the leader of the Plastics. Rapp will take over Rachel McAdams’ role as the pink-adorned villain in 2004.
- Auli’i Cravalho will take on the role of Janis ‘Imi’ike a friend Cady makes quickly when she arrives at her new school. The character was played Lizzy Caplan in the original film.
- Christopher Briney will play Aaron Samuels, a character who is remembered for the iconic moment when he asked what day it was on October 3. He was portrayed in 2004 by Jonathan Bennett.
- Jaquel Spivey shall play Damian Hubbard, Janis’ best friend. The character was initially portrayed by Daniel Franzese in the original Mean Girls.
- Bebe Wood will play Gretchen Wieners, the kindest member of Regina George’s Plastics clique. The character was first played by Lacey Chabert in 2004’s Mean Girls.
- Avantika Vandanapu will portray Karen Shetty, a member of the Plastics who isn’t exactly with the rest of the group attention-wise all the time. The character of was first played by Amanda Seyfried.
- Brian Altemus will play Shane Oman (first played by Diego Klattenhoff), one of the more popular kids at the school in Mean Girls, known for being a member of the Varsity Jocks clique.
- Tina Fey, the screenwriter of the original film and the reboot will reprise her of Ms. Norbury. Fey also becomes one of only two actors from the original 2004 Mean Girls movie to return for the remake as she plays Ms. Norbury once again.
- Long time sitcom veteran Tim Meadows will reprise his role of Principal Duvall along with Fey from the original movie’s cast.
- The Office star Jenna Fischer will play Mrs. Heron, Cady’s mom, Mrs. Heron, originally was played in 2004 by Ana Gasteyer.
- Busy Philipps will play Regina George’s mother Mrs. George, a fan favorite character from the 2004 original movie.
- Jon Hamm will play Coach Carr, a character I’m most excited to see. The Mad Men actor will take on the role from Dwayne Hill
from the original movie. - Ashley Park will play a new character called Madame Park, there are no details released on her character.
- Mahi Alam shall play Kevin Ganatra, a version of Rajiv Surendra’s fan-favorite character Kevin Gnapoor from the original Mean Girls movie.
- Connor Ratliff will play Mr. Rapp, a new character in the Mean Girls musical movie.
Mean Girls will release in theatres near you on January 12th, 2024.
