2023 has not been a great year for horror films, Thanksgiving acts as a good change of pace in that sense. The film directed by Eli Roth, is about a psycho killer who terrorizes the people of Plymouth after a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy. Brutal revenge killings at first, these murders soon turn out to be part of a bigger and insidious plan. You’d be surprised but we don’t have many horror films set during Thanksgiving and the ones that we do, are not worth it. The horror/slasher was a profitable venture for Sony Pictures, made only on a budget of $15 million, the film grossed more than $41.3 million so far. The studio didn’t waste any time in announcing a sequel for the film that will release in 2025.
If you were busy this Thanksgiving with your family and couldn’t catch the film in theatres then don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. The Eli Roth directorial is set to debut on DVD and Blu-ray formats very soon. Let’s find out when.
When Can You Buy Thanksgiving DVD or Bluray?
Dvdreleases reports that Thanksgiving will have its physical media release on DVD and Blu-ray formats on January 30th, 2024. This date fits right in with the expected release window that was given to us few weeks back. However, January 16th was the earlier estimated date. I guess fans have to wait a little longer for their copies. The film had its online debut a few days back on December 19th, 2023, 32 days after its initial theatrical debut. The film later had a worldwide release on December 8th.
There is no update on the film’s streaming release date. However, considering this is a Sony Production, Thanksgiving will most likely head to Netflix, thanks to the deal between Sony and the streaming giant. The movies generally come six months after their theatrical release. Considering that, Thanksgiving should be available to stream on Netflix in late May 2024.
The film is written by Jeff Rendell, based on a story by Roth and Rendell, who produced it with Roger Birnbaum. Based on Roth’s fictitious trailer of the same name from 2007’s Grindhouse, the film stars Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, Rick Hoffman, and Gina Gershon.
Thanksgiving is now available for purchase on digital and VOD platforms.
