The Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has earned a stellar 89% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. Led by Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is doing well at the box office having grossed $197 million in a mere two weeks. Soon, the 2023 spin-off will hit its streaming home. While The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, has only just started its run in theaters around the world, however, fans have started to wonder when the movie will be available online for purchase. According to estimates from When to Stream, the spin-off will possibly come to digital PVOD storefronts sometime in mid-December with pre-orders for the movie already live on many platforms.
Lionsgate’s two other successful hits of the year, John Wick 4 and Saw X spent many weeks in theaters before hitting online, though, the theatrical-to-digital window does vary between the two. Saw X came to PVOD 21 days after its theatrical debut while John Wick 4 took 62 days before appearing to digital.
If the predictions are right then Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will have its digital debut after 21 days on Friday, December 8. That window seems a little lean so a realistic prediction would be Friday, December 15, or Friday, December 22.
In recent years, Starz has been the official home of Lionsgate movies, with many of its successful blockbusters coming to the platform after a theatrical run. Lionsgate has a deal to bring its releases to Peacock 18 months after their theatrical debut. It means if the Hunger Games 2023 spin-off hits Starz in May, then the film will come to Peacock sometime around December 2025.
