Brahmastra Shah Rukh Khan's Role, Trailer, Release Date, Plot, and More

Brahmastra, stylized as Brahmāstra – Part One: Shiva is shaping up to be the biggest event in the history of Indian Cinema. The Indian Hindi language superhero fantasy adventure film written and directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced under the banner of Dharma Productions. The film will serve as the first film in a planned trilogy of the cinematic universe called Astraverse. It is a very ambitious project with a 300 Crores budget for first film itself, which was delayed almost 5 years. But now it is all set to debut this autumn and the marketing is now at full swing.

Brahmastra Trailer and Release Date

The first teaser trailer for the film debuted last week and the full length trailer is all set to arrive on 15th June 2022. Have a look at the teaser trailer below:

The teaser looks stunning with VFX like Indian Cinema has never seen before and all I want to say is that it’s about damn time! As you may know, most of the big budget international films of Sony, Marvel, or DC outsource a lot of VFX and CGI work to Indian companies but so far Indian Cinema Industry has failed to apply the same in their own movies. That was until now as it seems like the 5 years wait has finally paid off owing to its cool graphics. Not much can be heard in the movie to analyze character voices or story.

Brahmastra is scheduled for release on 9 September 2022 in standard formats, as well as 3D, and IMAX 3D, which is pretty rare for Bollywood. Talking about the Shiva, director Ayan Mukerji revealed that the inspiration behind actor Ranbir Kapoor’s character came from Rumi. It also inspired the first look of his character which was later on changed after Kapoor got a haircut.

Brahmastra Shahrukh Khan’s Role Leaked, Plot and Cast

It was earlier reported that Brahmastra travels back 3000 years to a pre-Mahabharat era and is a whole new fantasy world inspired in bits by Hindu religion and literature. It is set in two timeframes,  the main story set in present times where Ranbir’s character has superpowers and the pre-Mahabharat Era he travels to. He apparently goes back in time to learn more about weapons like Brahmastra (Weapon of Hindu deity Brahma) in order to fulfil a mission in the present time. Since the film involves time travel, fans earlier believed Shah Rukh Khan was playing the scientist who will help him time travel. But now it doesn’t seem to be the case.

As reported by Bollywood Hungama, SRK will play a scientist just like previous beliefs, but he won’t be helping Ranbir’s Shiva. Instead he apparently has access to the Brahmastra (the most powerful weapon in Hindu literature), and will be introduced as the antagonist in the first 30 minutes of the film. If this is to be believed, Ranbir will face off with SRK’s character in the sequels. The rest of the cast of the film is as follows:

  • Amitabh Bachchan as Guru
  • Ranbir Kapoor as Shiva
  • Alia Bhatt as Isha
  • Mouni Roy
  • Nagarjuna Akkineni as Anish
  • Dimple Kapadia
  • Divyendu Sharma
  • Dhruv Sehgal
  • Saurav Gurjar
