The Equalizer 3 Post Credit Scene!

The Equalizer 3 has opened up to good reviews which is a surprise when it comes to threequels. The Antonio Fuqua franchise began in 2014 starring the industry legend Denzel Washington. Considering the success of the first film both critically and commercially, a sequel came out in 2018 and unlike most sequels, The Equalizer 2 was a standout. Now, five years later a threequel which is supposed to wrap up the trilogy is out. Although, considering the consistent success of the franchise is The Equalizer 4 a possibility? Does the threequel tease anything in a post credit scene?

The Equalizer 3 Teases The Equalizer 4?

The concept of post credit scenes was started by Marvel Studios in modern cinema. Giving the audience just one more nugget of the film that teases about the upcoming developments in the franchise. After Marvel, DC also followed the trend and soon post credit scenes became a norm in the superhero genre. However, recently many mainstream Hollywood franchises have also adopted this tradition with Fast X having a post-credits scene where we saw Luke Hobbs’ return. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts added a mid-credits too in order to revive Mirage.

There are still some franchises which opt against the trope. For instance, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse didn’t have a post-credits, for example. Similar to Across the Spider-Verse, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One and Meg 2: The Trench, The Equalizer 3 doesn’t have have a post or mid credit scenes. So, once the credits roll you can rush towards the exit doors, bathroom stalls or wherever you need to be. The first two The Equalizer films also didn’t have any post credit scenes.

The film was made in $70 million, similar to its predecessors. So, to succeed at the box office The Equalizer 3 needs to make atleast $175 million. The Equalizer is one of the most consistent franchises, as both The Equalizer and The Equalizer 2 made almost exactly $190 million. The general rule of thumb is that a movie needs to make 2.5 times its budget to become successful, as the marketing budget is usually equal to its production cost, and then there’s the movie theaters’ cut (50%). So, before Sony can call the movie a success it needs to earn $175 million, which should not be a problem if the film performs like the other films in the franchise. Although, it’s opening weekend predictions aren’t great.

The Equalizer 3 is releasing in theatres today.
