The Fingernails trailer offers an unconventional romance between Jessie Buckley and Jeremy Allen White. It tells a near-future science fiction story of the development of an odd process to test love. Besides, White and Buckley, Fingernails stars Riz Ahmed and Luke Wilson. Apple TV trailer for Fingernails reveals Wilson as a developer of an institute that creates a scientific method to prove love. Buckley and White’s characters along with other pairs, begin a series of “exercises” to help their relationship.
Fingernails – An Unconventional Romance in a Sci-fi Story
The trailer reveals only snippets of the zany story. It shows an image of an exercise reminiscent of a manicure, one procedure in question is a procedure in which one’s fingernails are ripped out and analyzed to assure compatibility with one’s partner. Ahmed’s character in the Apple TV trailer, these fingernails are put into a microwave-looking device to conduct the scientific test.
Fingernails is the sophomore feature from Greek director Christos Nikou. This will be Nikou’s first English-language film. Before this, Nikou wrote and directed Apples, a film revolving around a global pandemic that causes amnesia, and a middle-aged man, Aris who enrolls in a recovery program to help patients to create new identities. Like Fingernails, Apples portrays an intimate human story against a soft-core sci-fi backdrop.
The trailer hints, that the film is just like Apples; that is, utilizes its sci-fi premise as a concept rather than a world-building gimmick. Within this alternate-universe landscape comes a tale of love and connection at its core. Buckley (Women Talking) and White (The Bear) should be the ideal duo to take on this mixed genre challenge.
Fingernails is set for release on November 3.
