George Miller’s epic dystopian saga, Mad Max is gearing up for a prequel film in the franchise titled, Furiosa. The film is currently in production with Anya Taylor-Joy set to play the titular role. The official plot synopsis of the film is out.
Furiosa Plot & Other Details
The official premise and setting of the Mad Max prequel is as follows:
“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
Based on the synopsis, it’s clear that the iconic villain from Fury Road, Immortan Joe is going to appear in Furiosa, albeit an younger version of himself. Tom Burke is expected to play the young version of Immortan Joe. In Fury Road, Hugh Keays-Byrne played the dreadful villain role, while the Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron played the fan favorite Furiosa.
Along with Miller, his co-writer Nico Lathouris, who also worked on Fury Road has scripted the prequel. The Oscar-winning crew of Fury Road, production designer Colin Gibson, editor Magaret Sixel and makeup designers Lesley Vanderwalt. Nathan Jones and Angus Sampson, were all set to return for their respective duties. Furiosa is slated to release on May 24, 2024
