Unless you’re living under a rock, there is no chance that you’ve not heard about Martin Scorsese. If you aren’t aware, he is only just the greatest living director in the current cinema landscape. Despite being 80 years old, the man is making us awesome movies one after the other. After delivering us The Irishman, Scorsese is back in action with Killers of the Flower Moon. The film which is supposedly 3 and a half hours long and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Louis Cancelmi and Lily Gladstone. The film premiered at Cannes 2023 and received a 5 minute long standing ovation. The critics who witnessed the spectacle cannot stop raving about it. Many people were concerned about the excruciatingly long runtime but Lord Marty has some strong worded advice for them.
Killers of the Flower Moon: Scorsese Doesn’t Think The Film Is Too Long!
Killers of the Flower Moon is set to debut in the coming weeks and in a recent interview with The Hindustan Times, the great filmmaker addressed one of the concern some moviegoers have about his upcoming venture – the runtime. The Leonardo DiCaprio starrer has clocked in at 3 hours and 26 minutes as of now. The Oscar winning director set the record straight about the runtime as he gives a piece of his brain to the audience,
“People say it’s three hours, but come on,” Scorsese explained. “You can sit in front of the TV and watch something for five hours. Also, there are many people who watch theatre for 3.5 hours. There are real actors on stage, you can’t get up and walk around. You give it that respect, give cinema some respect.”
Martin Scorsese is at the final stage of his career. His last venture, The Irishman also clocked in at 3 hours and 29 minutes. The runtime back in 2019 was also a concern for a lot of audiences but 4 years down the line, the film is regarded as Scorsese’s best! I’m sure based on the reviews, the cast and the trailers, Killers of the Flower Moon looks like an absolute masterpiece waiting to be experienced. Anything helmed by Scorsese is nothing short of awesome. He is indeed the Greatest Cinema Director to ever live.
Killers of the Flower Moon is slated to release on 20th October 2023.
