I’m someone who is not into games at all but this year, on a friend’s recommendation I checked out the trailer for the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game and boy was I amazed. The trailer promised an outstanding story full of action and emotion. We were introduced to Kraven the Hunter and Harry Osborn who is Peter’s best friend. Miles and Peter’s relationship suffers as many factors begin to pull them apart. Kraven causes a lot of havoc in our Spider-Men’s lives. However, that is not all as we also have Venom in the mix. Harry will get the Venom symbiote sometime in the story after Peter abandons the symbiote. That sets us up for a mind blowing climax, which will feature Peter, Miles, Kraven and Venom (Harry). However, all of this sounds too good to be true. We all know something with a very similar set up that was terribly messed up. I’m talking about Spider-Man 3. Well, I don’t think so that is the case with Spider-Man 2 as the early reviews are out and they can’t be more positive.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Early Reviews Are Extremely Positive!
In a private event sponsored by PlayStation and Insomniac Games in Los Angeles, California and in London, England some critics got to play a 3-hour demo of the game. Some of them have posted their reactions on X (formerly known as Twitter). Here are all of their reactions compiled:
Engadget Gaming – “Spider-Man 2 is following the Sony sequel playbook, and I’m not mad about it.”
Geoff Keighley (The Game Awards host) – “After playing 3 hours of MARVEL’s Spider-Man 2, my hype has only increased. Insomniac has delivered what may end up as the best superhero video game of all time. The gameplay is so fluid, the combat is super deep and rewarding. Really impressed so far!”
GameRiot – “I’m so excited to play more Spider-Man 2. It does everything you want for a sequel. Everything is bigger and better. And I was already hooked with the story and was gutted when my demo stopped. Thanks again to PlayStation UK for the invite.”
Germain Lussier (Gizmodo) – “Now that I’ve played a few hours of it, I’m extremely confident that Spider-Man 2 is not just going to be the best of the three, it may be the best superhero video game ever.”
Hollow Poiint – “I Played Spider-Man 2 Early. BELIEVE THE HYPE. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the best super hero game I have ever played. Truly a true next-gen gaming experience.”
Daniel Baptista (The Movie Podcast) – “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is the COOLEST game I’ve ever played and is about to be the BEST superhero game EVER made. Insomniac Games have outdone themselves again.”
Brad Shankar (Mobile Syrup) – “I played Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 & it was one of the BEST demos I’ve ever experienced. Far grander in scope with jaw-dropping setpieces, but still FULL of the heartfelt moments that define Spider-Man. I’m in awe.”
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available for purchase on October 20th 2023.
