Christopher Nolan has changed the box office game forever with his new film, Oppenheimer. Along with Barbie, Oppenheimer was responsible to save cinemas this summer. After huge blockbusters, crashed this summer an r-rated biographical drama is nearing a billion dollars mark. According to Box Office Mojo, the film’s collection now stands at $912.8 million making it the highest grossing biopic of all time. The Christopher Nolan directorial was already the third highest grossing film of the year and second highest grossing r-rated film ever, only trailing Joker. As the film is doing so well in theatres even after three months in theatres, fans have been waiting to know when will the film be available to watch at home. Well, we know since it is a Christopher Nolan film, it won’t be available for streaming anytime soon but what about the VOD release? Well, you’ll have to wait for that as well.

Oppenheimer VOD Release Is A Long Time Away!

Emma Thomas who is Christopher Nolan’s wife and the primary Producer in all of his films, was interviewed by Associated Press where she was asked about Oppenheimer’s video-on-demand release window and Thomas revealed Oppenheimer won’t open until November, four months after the movie’s theatrical premiere. There is still no word yet on when the movie will be available for streaming. The extended wait for Oppenheimer on video-on-demand is understandable considering the Universal Pictures title has become one of Hollywood’s biggest revelations in 2023.

he Nolan blockbuster has crossed the ₹150 crore mark in India despite facing off box office juggernauts like Gadar 2, OMG 2, Jailer and Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

This summer has been crazy. Barbie and Oppenheimer released at a time when summer 2023 ticket sales were down 7% from the same time in 2022 after films like The Flash and Mission Impossible 7: Dead Reckoning Part One underperformed at the box office. Since the beginning of “Barbenheimer,” the summer gross drastically improved, with the tally now standing $4.028 billion, the most since the summer of 2019, which hit $4.34 billion thanks, in part, to The Lion King and Spider-Man: Far From Home, which each eclipsed the billion-dollar mark globally. Both the blockbusters have triggered a spike in ticket sales by 16.6% helping Hollywood to go back to pre-pandemic levels for the first time in 4 years

The story of Oppenheimer is adapted from Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin’s book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Oppenheimer will be the first film to be shot in B/W and IMAX. The film is made on a hefty budget of $185 Million. The film basically has half of Hollywood in it including Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, David Krumholtz, Kenneth Branagh, Gary Oldman, Casey Affleck and Michael Angarano.
