The game you’ve all been waiting for is almost here and it will surely wreck the world of gaming once it arrives. Not a week goes by, when we do not hear something exciting about the game. Just a week ago, we came across the early reviews of the game, which were nothing short of glorious. We saw some critics calling it the best superhero game ever made, while others calling it the most rewarding and coolest game ever made. Now being such a big IP, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been a subject to a lot of leaks and we have some really big spoilers for the game, thanks to r/SpidermanPS4. Following is the full plot summary of the game based on the leaks we have received so far. So read at your own risk!
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Opening and Kraven the Hunter
The game begins with Miles at school and Peter as a teacher on his first day. They have to leave class as they see sand all around when they look outside the window indicating something messy going on. Yes, it is Sandman and they proceed to fight the giant in the middle of the city, making it an even more epic and scenic opening than the battle against Fisk in the first game. After the fight, Sandman is taken away, but his memory is shattered. Post that players must find his memories, as crystals, around the map by fighting small versions of him. After doing so, players will discover that Kraven had attacked and threatened him as well as his daughter. That’s precisely the reason why he became angry. Marko eventually asks Spider-Man to deliver the crystals to his daughter.
As we progress, we learn more about Kraven the Hunter who apparently has cancer and is looking for a worthy challenge. In his quest to find someone worthy enough to beat him/kill him, he commits several crimes and he basically is after everyone in the game. He proceeds to kill Scorpion and most likely Vulture as well, but we learn that later. He also kidnaps Dr Connors is kidnapped and places him in a cell in his lair. Here, gamers will have to undertake a mission as MJ and find the cell key as well as password to free him. While playing as Mary Jane in Kraven’s lair gamers discover Vulture’s wings suggesting he was killed by Kraven. Unfortunately, Kraven arrives in the cell and uses the serum to transform Connors into Lizard (he’s still Lizard from the comics in the lab coat) and escapes.
Peter has a showdown with Kraven the Hunter and his goons alongside Agent Venom (Harry Osborn with controlled symbiote) and MJ. Peter is badly injured in the process and Harry comes near him, Symbiote attaches itself to Peter and cures him. After that the Symbiote refuses to go back to Harry. This is the moment which begins Harry’s journey towards the dark side. Later Peter searches for Dr Connors at his house but isn’t able to find him. Then in a church sequence we see him take the cure from Kraven. Peter proceeds to find his secret laboratory and we see that the Lizard has now become bigger and more monstrous. The we see the very long Lizard-Godzilla chase which involves both Miles and Peter, that was showcased in the gameplay trailer itself. There are multiple stages of fights against the Lizard, but Peter eventually manages to heal Connors. Then we follow Miles and Peter on some of the adventures of their own.
Quests as Miles and Peter
Miles Morales adventures include Martin Li, Black Cat, Prowler, and Mysterio quests. You went against Martin Li a number of times in Marvel’s Spider-Man as Peter. Now get ready to go up against him again but this time as Miles Morales. However, he’s not that much of a center of attention in this game and serves as another super powered being Kraven kidnaps while looking for a challenge. Another quest you’ll be tackling as Miles would be Mysterio quest. Mysterio has created an entertainment structures for illusions, together with two of his colleagues. However, it seems that when he enters these structures he is trapped due to a bug. Mysterio asks Miles to find all the facilities in the city and deal with the bug and free the people inside.
In reality, it appears that Mysterio created the bug to trap rich people in the facilities for criminal purposes. Mysterio’s colleagues ask you to stop him. So, at the end of the side activities, you face Mysterio in the last structure. The battle is very cool and visually stimulating as Mysterio shrinks Miles into a miniature of New York and they face each other in different areas thanks to rapid loading. In the end we find out that the bad Mysterio is a fake and the real Mysterio is innocent who was apparently framed by his colleagues. As for the Prowler, he’ll give Miles side jobs and if gamers complete them all he rewards Miles with a gadget upgrades. Now let us move on to Peter’s quests. As Miles, you’ll also be tasked with finding Black Cat and warning her that Kraven is coming for her. During the quest she steals a staff from Doctor Strange and opens portals during the chase, like a Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart mission. At the end of the quest she runs off to join her new girlfriend in Paris and bids goodbye to Miles.
Meanwhile as Peter you’ll struggle with your emotions and behaviour as the Symbiote will start to influence him. Peter spends time looking for a cure for Harry Osborn with Connors help. On the other hand, Norman Osborn finds out about Symbiote and hires Kraven in relation to the symbiote and Miles abilities. Eventually Kraven rejects the contract due to it’s limitations on the tactics he can employ and engages Spider-Man like he’s a new challenge. Kraven summons his henchmen to help him draw Peter and Miles out. “Crimes” from his henchmen include jumping in on rooftop camps and masked POIs that are actually traps and ambushes set by them. So, Peter might need to face off with Kraven as a boss fight again but we do not have more information about it.
One of the major side quests Peter would be involved in would be Wraith aka Yuri quest. She has apparently fallen to the dark side as has become a morally grey vigilante. There is Clatus Cassidy in the side missions with Yuri (Wraith). Cassidy is the leader of a cult and wants to perform a ritual to become a red monster (there is a book where Carnage is drawn). Here, you’ll have to fight Yuri to protect Cassidy, because she wants to kill him. In the last of these side missions, Cassidy steals a specimen of the symbiote from Oscorp and announces that there will be carnage. He escapes with a helicopter teasing Carnage for DLC or sequel. There is also a stealth mission where you play a young Peter (15 years) in school, during a flashback.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Venom Is Born + Ending
Moving on, as the game progresses Peter gets worse and worse which would eventually lead to a conflict between him and Miles Morales. During and after this boss fight, Miles uses a bell to weaken the symbiote and convinces Peter to take it off. Then gamers will need to switch to Peter and pressing the square button several times will remove the symbiote. The aftermath of this battle would finally rid Peter of the symbiote and allow him to make up with all the people he pushes away during the game. However, Kraven and his goons will apparently get a hold of this symbiote and make a deal with Norman/Harry Osborn. Subsequently, Harry Osborn would become the new host of the Symbiote and will turn into Venom.
In this one mission, players will be able to play as Venom as they must escape from Oscorp and Kraven’s hunters. Here too there will be a Kraven boss fight where Venom will ultimately kill Kraven and bite his head. Kraven dies happily fulfilling his goal of finding a worthy opponent, so he could die in a battle rather than of cancer. Venom proceeds to wreck havoc all across the city and also leave a trail of infected people which you’ll most likely need to cure post game. Harry goes to Mary Jane’s house to threaten Peter and infects MJ with the Symbiote. She becomes Scream and gamers have to defeat her as Peter, making it one of the important boss fights in the game. During the fight, Scream/MJ shouts everything she has on her mind about Peter and their complicated relationship. As a result, the two start understanding each other better and after freeing her, Peter and MJ’s relationship grows stronger.
This brings us to the grand finale of game which has been heavily teased in the latest trailers – Venom vs Peter and Miles. The fight plays out in multiple phases. In the first phase Venom and Peter fight on the basketball court where Harry and Peter became friends. After that, you have two phases with Miles vs. Venom. In the final phase against Miles, Venom has wings and proceeds to attack from above. It all ends with a sequence in which Venom flies through the city and the two Spider-Men beat him up, finally getting an upper hand over the colossal monster. Harry asks Peter to kill him, but the symbiote takes control of him again and continues to attack. Peter gets mortally wounded and almost dies.
Meanwhile, Miles convinces Martin Li, who is remorseful and wants to make things right after everything he’s done, to help. Martin uses his powers on Peter to try and heal him, and the energy mutates the bits of symbiote still in Peter and he becomes Anti-Venom. Ultimately, Peter kills Harry because he has no other choice, but Miles brings him back to life with his new powers, albeit in a coma. Norman wants revenge against the two Spider-Men and uses the phone to ask for a certain “G-Serum”. Peter decides to stop being Spider-Man for a while and asks Miles to be the only Spider-Man. MJ quits her job and Peter and MJ focus on rebuilding their lives. As for the Symbiote, it gets totally disintegrated and disappears however, symbiotes have a collective memory. They are all one and the symbiotes continue to exist even after Venom’s defeat.
In post game you’ll be able to complete your collections and carry on any left over side quest. Some post game mini-bosses will include certain large Kraven hunters and colossal Symbiotes who apparently look as big as hulk. As for the post credits sequences there are two of them In the first scene Norman goes to the Raft and asks Octavius what the secret identity of the two Spider-Men is and Octavius relies how he has already prepared a “last act”. In the second scene, Miles gets to meet his mother’s boyfriend (she talks about him early in the game). The man comes to Miles’ house and introduces his daughter, Cindy. From her name and hair, she is Cindy Moon, Silk, the girl who in the comics was bitten by the same spider as Peter Parker.
