It has been confirmed that an anime adaptation of Mashle: Magic and Muscles is in development and will be released in 2023. Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump made the announcement, and Mashle Official followed up by releasing new series art on Twitter. A trailer was also launched, featuring Mash, the main character of the series, as he develops his unique “muscle magic.”
Hajime Komoto is the creator of the manga series Mashle: Magic and Muscles. Since early 2020, it has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. It currently consists of 114 chapters compiled into eleven volumes, with a twelfth volume in the works. The first volume of the manga was completely sold out when it was introduced, and there are currently over three million copies in circulation. Both fans and critics have lauded it for its sharp humour.
Mashle Is Making Its Way To Our Screens
In the world of Mashle, magic rules supreme, and a person’s social standing is determined by their abilities – or lack thereof. Mash Burnedead possesses no magic at all. After being abandoned by his family because he was born without the distinctive mark signifying a magic-wielder, Mash is raised by Regro Burnedead, a man who starts teaching him self-defence.
Mash needs to get good grades from the Easton Magic Academy in order to become a Divine Visionary and provide a better life for himself and his adoptive father. To achieve this, Mash will have to develop “muscle magic” – total control of his muscles that enables him to conduct amazing feats.

Many anime fans are familiar with the theme of an ordinary person struggling to survive in a magical world; well-known examples include Rock Lee from Naruto and Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia. Mashle, on the other hand, gives the cliche a fresh spin by parodying these series’ aspects rather than just repeating a worn-out formula. Due to their similar plots and comic tones, One Punch Man and Mashle have been particularly contrasted. The series also parodies Harry Potter, with Easton Magic Academy satirizing Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
VIZ Media and Manga Plus are currently distributing the Mashle: Magic and Muscles manga.
