Mission-Impossible Franchise

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One is Paramount’s biggest release of this year and will most is enjoying a long theatrical run. The film opened up to amazing reviews with its Rotten Tomatoes score peaking at 99%, highest for the franchise. The film has been made on an insane budget of $290 million, making it the most expensive Mission Impossible film ever. Sadly, Dead Reckoning hasn’t been able to generate a massive opening which could tally its budget. If the past Mission Impossible films are any indication, MI 7 is a huge risk by the studio. Barbie and Oppenheimer really conquered theatres, not giving a chance to any other film. However, despite the mid box office run of MI 7, the film has managed to achieve a new high for the franchise.

The Mission Impossible Franchise Has Achieved A Huge Feat!

A new report states that Dead Reckoning Part One’s worldwide box-office tally of $552 million has helped the Mission: Impossible film series topple the $4 billion mark in overall ticket sales. The total gross for the Mission: Impossible franchise stands at $4.128 billion since its inception with the original 1996 movie. After breaching the $550 million mark, Dead Reckoning Part One has become the fourth-highest-earning film of the seven installments released to date.

Mission Impossible 7 is well behind 2018’s Mission Impossible: Fallout which earned $791 million worldwide, setting a new franchise record. Domestically, MI 7 has performed worse sitting sixth among Mission: Impossible’s seven entries at $168 million, only above 2006’s Mission: Impossible III. MI 7 is rumored to debut on Paramount Plus on February 6th 2024, if Paramount chooses to treat the film like Top Gun: Maverick or in September 2023 if Paramount’s theatres to streaming history is to be believed. While these are two extremes of the release spectrum, I think the much more likely release window is November or December. Given the ongoing shift in streaming strategy across Hollywood.

The film stars Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales and Vanessa Kirby. MI 7 is playing in theatres near you and Dead Reckoning Part Two is slated to release on 28th June 2024.
