Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse was without any doubt, one of the best superhero films ever made. It was fun, it was unique, it was engaging, and at the same time, it was full of heart. Its unique and comic book-like animation drew a lot of attention and was one of the primary reasons why it nabbed The Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. It showcased exactly how multiversal storylines can work in modern times and served as an inspiration to many studios. Today, almost every superhero studio is busy creating their own multiverse. As you may be aware, its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse is all set to release this year and today we have some new updates for you guys!
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Footage Description
As you may know, CinemaCon 2023 has officially begun and Sony Pictures’ panel took the main stage on Monday night. The attendees were showered with load of updates about upcoming Sony projects like Gran Turismo, Ghostbusters sequel, Kraven the Hunter teaser and much more. Among all this fans were also shown the first 14 minutes of Sony animation’s upcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse.
The footage kicked off with Gwen Stacey coming to visit Miles Morales for the first time since the events of the first film. He clearly still has a crush on her and she embarrasses him by going through his notebook which includes dozens of his colorful drawings of her. They both escape his room even though he can’t because he’s grounded. Spider-Gwen is visiting Miles to inform him of this secret society of multiversal Spider people, and she’s been stopping threats across different dimensions with them for some time.
The goal of this multi-versal Spider society is to stop universes from colliding. They’re swinging across the city and catching up, it’s obvious that there is more of a romance between them. Miles is trying his best to be smooth and get closer to her, but she tells them they can’t be tempted to be together since in every universe Gwen Stacey falls in love with Spide-Man… and in every universe that doesn’t end well, alluding to death. Miles responds with, “Well there’s a first time for everything right?” which further ignites their romantic tension.
Gwen then meets Mile’s parents and they can tell that they like each other. After some awkward introductions, she gets called back to the Spider society and leaves, telling Miles that he’s not allowed to join because “there aren’t that many slots” available. After she leaves. Mile’s mother comforts him and they share an intimate family moment where he’s almost tempted to reveal to her that he is Spider-Man. However, he can’t do it. His mom encourages Miles to chase after Gwen because he’s growing up and needs to explore. She tells him to ensure he never loses sight of who he truly is. The footage included some snippets of new music from Metro Boomin.
This is where the footage ends and as of now we are looking for some footage leaks and we’ll post them separately as and when we find them, so stay tuned! Kraven the Hunter is all set to release in theatres on 2 June 2023.
