The Hunger Games is a film series that started out in 2012. The films were adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ books of the same name. The first three films based on the book trilogy found resounding success at the box office. The Hunger Games franchise grossed over $2.970 billion worldwide. As Suzanne Collins wrote another Hunger Games book during the Covid-19 pandemic, there is another film in production. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is not the continuation of the saga rather a prequel with new stories and characters. Franchise veteran Francis Lawrence is helming the prequel. Hunger Games screenwriter Michael Arndy and producer Nina Jacobson are back as well. While Katniss’s story is long ahead in the timeline but we can definitely count on finding out Snow’s origins. It looks like we’re in for some meaty story for the fourth film as Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes has become the longest film of the franchise.

A new report from Games Radar confirms that The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is about 2 hours and 36 minutes long. This makes the Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes the longest film of the entire franchise. That record was previously held for a decade by 2013’s Catching Fire, which is 146 minutes long. Both movies are directed by Francis Lawrence, who gained recognition for his directorial work on 2005’s Constantine and 2007’s I Am Legend.
Upon casting Zegler, Francis Lawrence had this to say about her, “Like everybody, I first saw Rachel Zegler in ‘West Side Story,’ and like everybody, I knew I was watching a star who would command the screen for a generation.
