The Super Mario Bros.

The good old times seem to be back. Super Mario Bros. has become the 52nd film to cross the $1 billion mark in cinema history. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the film opened with $368 million which is the biggest ever for an animated movie, beating Frozen II’s previous mark of $358 million. Now the most profitable film based on a video game of all time, Super Mario Bros. has been topping the domestic box office consecutively for 4 weeks now, that too fending off big competitors like Nicolas Cage’s Renfield, Russell Crowe’s The Pope’s Exorcist and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. However, after conquering the box office, the film’s collections have been dropping especially after the release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.  So, Universal has decided to release the film on Digital.

When Will The Super Mario Bros. Release On Digital!

The Super Mario Bros. movie’s digital release date has been revealed thanks to the cable brand Optium. The brand through a social media post revealed that the Nintendo and Universal Pictures’ collaboration will release on digital on Tuesday, 16th May 2023. This means that the film will release 41 days after its theatrical debut, which is a short gap for a 2023 blockbuster. However, given Universal’s digital release policy this short gap makes sense. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was released digitally a mere 16 days after its December 2022 theatrical premiere, while Minions: The Rise of Gru hit video-on-demand 32 days after its Summer 2022 debut.

Along with Chris Pratt playing the lead role, the supporting cast of the film includes Seth Rogen, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack Black, Fred Armisen and Charles Martinet.
