Thor Love and Thunder Director's cut Might Not Be Possible

Thor: Love and Thunder which released recently has garnered mixed reception from both critics and fans, though the film had a best opening weekend with $143M, many fans voiced their displeasure with the film. One of the major problems with the film is odd pacing and tonal inconsistencies with uneven editing. Since the release, there is a fan petition to include the deleted scenes, which were confirmed to exist according to Natalie Portman and other actors. You can read about Thor 4 deleted scenes in our article here.

Taika Waititi About Director’s Cut

Star Wars Taika Waititi Promises Expanding the Universe With His Film

In a recent interview with NME, Taika has said that he doesn’t like Thor: Love and Thunder Director’s cut and voiced his displeasure.

“I watch director’s cuts of a lot of other directors. They suck. Director’s cuts are not good. Directors need to be controlled sometimes and if I was to say, ‘Oh you wanna watch my director’s cut? It’s four and a half hours long!’ It’s not good, at four and a half hours. There’s a lot of cup-of-tea breaks in there. You don’t even have to pause it.”

Seems like Taika clearly is not a fan of extended/director’s cuts and he is bit brash and overconfident with his claims that Director’s cuts suck, while there were clear evidence that some of the director cuts made films better like Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven and Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep for example.

Thor: Love and Thunder Director’s Cut, If It Exists

Thor: Love and Thunder, Valhalla Explained, How Jane Foster Can Return?

When asked about a hypothetical question on what he might include if a director’s cut of Thor: Love and Thunder exists, Taika Waititi said the following:

“I’d say my cut would probably have a few more jokes in there,” he said. “There might be a couple of deleted scenes. But as I always say, a scene is deleted because it’s not good enough to be in the film. I think the deleted-scenes section on the DVD, not that they use them anymore, should just be a list of the scenes and no links so you can’t click on them.”

The filmmaker seems to be very much adamant about creating a Thor: Love and Thunder director’s cut. Let’s hope Marvel Studios considers the fan petition seriously and approves a director’s cut to Love and Thunder.
