Loki Season 2 Natalie Holt is Returning As Composer

Loki is gearing up for season 2 after proving to be one of the most successful shows in the MCU. The series received particular praise for its score composed by Natalie Holt, who also later won the chance to score the Star Wars property, Obi-Wan Kenobi, making her the first female composer to score for the Star Wars franchise. She’s also roped to score Batgirl which is going to release some time this year.

The composer is excited to return for Loki season 2 and shared her views on the project in a recent interview with Inverse:

“I spoke to Tom Hiddleston and said ‘I hope they’re not like expecting a new theme for Loki Season 2,’” Holt said. “And he was like, ‘Oh, I think there would be outrage if we didn’t use your themes you’ve established in Season 2.’”

Natalie also developed a theme for the bad guy Kang the Conqueror and the sci-fi electronica that accompanied Loki’s adventures with the TVA. Kang the Conqueror is also set to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. It’s to be seen if the film is going to employ same score created by Holt.

Holt also said how composing for Loki and the fan response has impacted her approach towards scoring new projects:

“I wasn’t thinking like, Oh, I wonder what people will think of this. I was just trying to work with Kate and do the best job I could. With the pandemic and lockdown, I was doing it all remote, piecing it all together, even the mix. I was just trying to make myself happy with it, I guess. I was such a control freak, I was so into it. So I was just like, oh, people like it? It was just a bit of a shock.”

The plot of Season 2 of Loki is currently under wraps but the series is going to start in a new timeline and with Loki trying to fix the mess. The show is currently filming and expected to release mid-2023. Probably more updates will be revealed soon at D23 convention.
