Thor: Love and Thunder which released world wide yesterday to polarized critical reception and lukewarm response from hardcore MCU fans has made around $48.6M outside US. Thor: Love and Thunder Overseas Performance
The film had No. 1 openings across overseas. On Thursday, UK led the top spot with $3.8M for the 6th highest opening day of the pandemic era. Mexico is second with $3.7M and the 4th best launch day during the pandemic era. In India, Thor: Love and Thunder scored $3M and it’s the 3rd highest opening day for non-local product, and Brazil came in with $2.7M. That was good for the 3rd highest pandemic opening day and 2nd biggest of the year. 3D is representing 38% of the take in Brazil.
Estimated $150M World Wide Opening Weekend
Current projections from boxoffice analyst states the film might have a shot at $150M opening weekend abroad and a total of $300M worldwide with estimated domestic opening coming close to around $140-160M according to box office trackers. so far the film has earned around $29M through Thursday previews according to trade sources and Deadline.
We have yet to see how Thor: Love and Thunder holds against mediocre reviews and lukewarm word of mouth from hardcore MCU fans. Currently, the film has less chances to beat the world wide collections of Thor: Ragnarok and continues the downward trend of an underwhelming phase 4 for MCU.
