The unexpected Box Office success of Top Gun: Maverick, which raked more than a billion at the world wide has led the thoughts of continuing the franchise among fans. The film released more than two decades after the original Top Gun, has exceeded the expectations of trade analysts in its performance. Miles Teller, who played Rooster in the film recently revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he’s talking to Tom Cruise about a possible sequel to Maverick or simply Top Gun 3.
Top Gun 3 Depends on Tom Cruise
While Paramount is up for more Top Gun after the massive success of Maverick, it actually depends on Tom Cruise’s nod to go forward for any sequel to the successful franchise as Cruise has a lot of control over the property and credited as a producer for Maverick. Miles Teller said the following about the sequel plans:
“I’ve been having some conversations with him [Tom Cruise] about it. We’ll see.”
Honestly this is a great news for Top Gun: Maverick fans as they can expect more sky adventures of Miles and Cruise. Teller once again reiterated that it all depends on Cruise’s decision about going forward with Top Gun 3.
“That would be great, but that’s all up to TC,” Teller said. “It’s all up to Tom.”
Currently Tom Cruise is busy with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, of which the first part is releasing next year, whereas the franchise is going to end with Dead Reckoning Part 2 in 2024. We have to wait and see what Cruise’s decision is gonna be regarding making a sequel to Top Gun: Maverick.
