Aquaman 2 Amber Heard Scenes Reportedly Removed by WB

One of the fan-favorite Zack Synder’s Justice League characters is all set to return for his second solo adventure. Aquaman 2 titled Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom would see the return of Aquaman as the King of Atlantis. This would be the 13th entry in the DC Extended Universe and is all set to release on 17th March 2023 after suffering a major delay from a December 2022 release. Anyways, we have some not-so-cool news for the fans of the universe as it is being reported that a lot of Mera scenes seem to have been removed from the film.

Amber Heard’s Mera Scenes Cut Out From Aquaman 2

When it comes to big media houses like WB or Disney, they tolerate no kind of controversies and instantly cut off from the involved members. We have seen a lot of such examples in the part especially from WB, as it removed Johnny Depp from the Fantastic Beasts franchise and even removed J.K. Rowling’s name from Fantastic Beasts 3’s trailer. Disney is no less as it too removed Johnny Depp from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and fired James Gunn for a short time period owing to controversies arising from his very old tweets.

So, WB removing Amber Heard scenes doesn’t come as a surprise and the actress stated that they did not want her in the movie at all. Following are some quotes from Amber Heard during her court proceeding in the Johnny Depp defamation case:

Lawyer: “Have you participated in Aquaman 2?”

Heard: “I have. I fought really hard to stay in the movie. They didn’t want to include me in the film.”

Lawyer: “Were you ultimately able to film in Aquaman 2?”

Heard: “A very pared down version of that role, yes.”

Lawyer: “What if anything changed in the script?”

Heard: “I was given a script. Then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another. They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch.”

The Direct previously reported that Mera might spend most of this movie being pregnant. They reported that she’ll be absent from most of the film as she’s pregnant with Arthur Curry’s son and the sequel will focus more on the seven kingdoms of Atlantis.

Fandango’s Erik Davis revealed Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom showcased will see Jason Mamoa’s hero forced to reluctantly team up with his brother, King Orm to take down Black Manta. Apparently, Black Manta has grown much stronger and more dangerous since the first film. Also, Black Manta will have a new ship in the film and has probably been taken over by some dark energy which led to a sudden surge in his power. So, much so that two of the strongest underwater beings have to team up to defeat him.

As for Aquaman 2’s cast, Jason Mamoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman will all reprise their roles from Aquaman. That aside, Randall Park (Dr. Stephen Shin), Vincent Regan (Atlan), Jani Zhao (Stingray), Indya Moore (Karshon), and Pilou Asbæk (undisclosed role) will also be joining the cast.
