Henry Cavill might be the saddest figure in Hollywood right now as DC is in the weirdest spot it has ever been in history. The shake-ups that have been going on be that Walter Hamada’s firing, Accusations surrounding Ezra Miller, Batgirl’s cancellation, Peter Safran and James Gunn’s appointment as New Heads, Cancellations of projects like Wonder Woman 3 and Man of Steel 2. Really Warner Bros. is in a huge mess when it comes to managing its asset called DC which has become more of a liability. However, if anyone has suffered most because of DC or Warner Bros. is Henry Cavill if not Zack Snyder. Cavill first starred in Man of Steel (2013) which was successful and developed a cult following which was supposed to be continued by a sequel.
However, in the efforts of creating a cinematic universe, Warner Bros. forgot their original plan and the Man of Steel sequel was somewhere lost. However, as DC started taking huge losses Warner Bros. started to be distant from Henry Cavill and they’d almost silently replaced if it wasn’t for this year’s Black Adam where he had an eight seconds cameo. After which his official comeback was announced, only for Gunn-Safran to come along and firing him once again as he didn’t fit in their plan of the new DCU. However, it looks like before this DC drama took place Henry Cavill had fired his manager. Does that have to do anything with these DC news? It appears so.
Why Did Henry Cavill Fire His Manager?
According to a recent report from Puck News’ Matt Belloni, ex-Superman actor Henry Cavill has fired his manager just months before all this DC drama took place. Cavill left his The Witcher role as Geralt of Rivia to reprise his role as Superman for DC, however, just after weeks after his return Cavill was replaced as Superman. Cavill firing his manager has deeper implications then what you’d think. Cavill’s manager was none other than Dan Garcia (William Morris Entertainment) who is Dwayne Johnson’s ex-wife.
Not only that but Cavill and Johnson share the same manager as Garcia has been producing partners with ex-husband Dwayne Johnson. Johnson was the one who was advocating for Henry Cavill’s return as Superman for Black Adam. To accomplish this Johnson went behind Walter Hamada’s back and approached new DC Heads Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca. Johnson was trying to help out his fellow WME member. Garcia was trying to get the cameo which was literally shot 2 months before the film premiered.
This move was reportedly done in order to hype up the film Black Adam. However, this move failed as well because despite having Henry Cavill’s cameo the film is reportedly set to make a loss of $100 Million. The firing of Garcia reportedly comes as a result of this because Cavill figured out how he was being toyed around to be the ticket to success of someone else’s film. It looks like Cavill left his The Witcher role for nothing. The firing of Garcia may not lead to an official statement but all things point towards this report being true.
Man of Steel is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video or HBO Max.
