Shazam: Fury of the Gods is the first DC movie releasing this year. The anticipation or hype surrounding the film isn’t much but if you’re to believe the critics who recently saw the film, then you’d have blast watching the film. With film made only on a budget of $125 million, the Shazam sequel is finding it difficult to find its audience and fill up the theatres as the projections only show the film earning $43 to $52 million in its opening weekend, domestically. This is less than the original film’s and Black Adam’s opening figures. There is a lot at stake here, as if the sequel turns out to be a financial success then Zachary Levi and Asher Angel would be added to the DCU if not their journeys would end with this film. Shazam 2 isn’t a crossover movie with a lot of cameos that would get people excited about and Shazam as a superhero isn’t necessarily very famous. However, it looks like the sequel does have a bag of tricks to get the audience excited about it. Unfortunately, one of them has been leaked online.
Gal Gadot Will Appear As Wonder Woman in Shazam 2!
As I’d mentioned above, there is no real hype about the Shazam sequel. The film is slated to release next week and Warner Bros. and DC are desperately trying to make every effort for the audience to get excited about Fury of the Gods. I don’t whether this happened because of this or did they always intend to reveal the cameo one week before the release but the fact remains that an official TV spot clip for Shazam: Fury of the Gods just revealed Gal Gadot’s cameo as Wonder Woman. This is best look we’ve had of the actress.
Everyone speculated that she would appear in the DC flick but those were still rumors and minute details in promotional footage. However, this time DC has just blatantly showed us her cameo in the hopes of getting more people in the theatres. After quick shots of many of Shazam 2‘s most important characters — notably, Zachary Levi’s Shazam and the Shazam Family — Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is shown clearly and purposefully.

Zachary Levi’s Shazam is in awe and amazement of the Amazon warrior, he also has a crush on her if you remember from the first movie. However, Princess Diana simply says, “stick to saving the world, kid.” Director David Sandberg was quick to tweet about this footage where he addressed his concerns with the promotional material that is out. The tweet read, “Well there’s some big ‘Shazam’ spoilers out there now. If you want to go in fresh maybe don’t be online or watch tv with ads… Pretty good advice in general actually.” One Twitter user commented that the director doesn’t seem happy about this, Sandberg offered an explanation on why is that so:

- @ponysmasher: “I’m happy if it convinces people to see the movie. But it’s of course less ideal for people who were going to see it anyway if they happen to see spoilers.”
The new footage confirms that Gal Gadot would be reprising her role of Wonder Woman in Shazam: Fury of the Gods. In addition, however, Taylor Cahill will be appearing as a “Fake Wonder Woman” alongside her. Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods is slated to release theatres near you on 17th March 2023.
