Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 4 Codenamed SPARKING! ZERO!

Dragon Ball isn’t just the most popular anime out there, but it is also one of the most vast media franchises. From manga and anime, to movies and games, there is hardly any segment of entertainment media that DB hasn’t touched. Even within its gaming franchise, it has RPG titles, combat titles, VR titles, mobile titles, and what not. Among these is Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series which has 3 main fighter games with the last one called Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Meteor which come over 16 years ago. The awesome news is that a 4th game in the series aka DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 has been officially announced!

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 Is Codenamed “SPARKING! ZERO!”

Since a few months DB fans went on a short hiatus as nothing too hype-worthy was happening with manga trying to wrap up the DBS: Super Hero prequel arc and absolutely no updates on the anime return. However, they once again kinda broke the internet when Bandai Namco announced DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 a few days ago! This series, especially the 3rd game, is often considered to be the absolute best DB game ever released. Now first  of all, if you haven’t seen the teaser yet, see it below!

As you can see, the hype of the fans is understandable also given the fact that it will include content from Dragon Ball Super including the Super Saiyan Blue transformation. As it happens, according to DBSChronicles, the new Budokai Tenkaichi 4 game is in the works under the codename “SPARKING! ZERO”!  SPARKING as you may know is what they call the BT series in Japan. First game was titled “Sparking”, second was titled “Sparking! Neo” and the third one as mentioned above was called, “Sparking! Meteor”.

However, do keep in mind that this does not mean the game will officially be titled “Dragon Ball SPARKING! ZERO” as this is just the codename. You might remember how “DBZ Kakarot” had the codename “Project Z” when it was announced. So, similarly BT4 won’t necessarily be called ‘Sparking! ZERO’ however, it does make sense if it does.  the game is expected to release on current-gen consoles which include PS5 and XBox Series X/S but its arrival chances on PS4 or XBox One seem a bit bleak. It will feature returning playable characters, forms and stages (Planet Namek amongst several others), as well as possibly missing obscure characters and newcomers from Dragon Ball Super.

One thing is for sure, when its announcement itself got Dragon Ball on the to trending lists, it will set the internet on fire when it actually arrives!
