As DC is on the verge for a rebirth, the studio is not releasing many movies unlike their competition – Marvel. One of those movies is The Flash. As of now we don’t know whether one of these movies will be a part of the new DCU that newly appointed Co-Heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are constructing. We have little to no information about the new DC as neither Gunn nor Safran have revealed anything. Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot’s exit or rather firing suggests a new slate but recent reports have revealed that Warner Bros. is not looking for a complete revamp of the Snyderverse. I hope we get an update soon, whatever it may be. Nevertheless, as it turns out The Flash was always integral for the DCU as it was the one card that was going to create the kind of soft reboot that Gunn and Safran are looking for.
This will allow Warner Bros. to put a carpet on their past mistakes (2017’s Justice League) and start anew where they churn out the weed but are still able to use the parts that work. Warner Bros. was facing a lot of issues with this film for obvious reasons but at the end decided to go. The trailer for the film is supposed to drop soon meaning we will get the first footage of the film in almost two years. We already know that there are multiple Flash variants in the film and Ezra Miller will be playing two of them. Recently, the actor has talked about what was it like to play two different Flashes. Let’s see what the actor said.
The Flash: Ezra Miller Opens Up About Playing Two Flashes!
In a recently surfaced featurette, director Andres Muschietti and lead actor Ezra Miller have teased the fans about the upcoming Flash film which will have Two Flashes. The featurette’ conversation looked something like:
Muschietti: “Ezra is playing two characters, including original Barry and young Barry.”
Miller: “There’s another ‘him,’ who is co-existing in this timeline and it’s all gone wonky.”
Previously at DC Fandom 2021, Ezra Miller had talked about his Barry Allen’s growth, “Yes, it constitutes, I think, a very large and powerful arc. I think this is a story that precipitates a lot of change for Barry Allen in more ways than one. And I think it really carries him from being sort of the person who we met in the Justice League films. It takes him from that place of a young person, who’s come into his powers, but doesn’t quite know how to manifest them, who’s joined a legion of superheroes but doesn’t quite know his place in the context of it.”
Miller concluded by, “And it takes him from there to really in my mind, being Barry Allen, being the Flash. I think in some ways, it’s an origin story and a coming into his own story, so it’s a big one, big arc for Barry, parentheses, forward slash, ‘S,’ end parentheses.”
Andres Muschietti (IT) will helm The Flash, and Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey, Batgirl) will pen the story. Additionally, it will feature the Bruce Wayne/Batman characters played by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, as well as Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, Ian Loh as a young Barry Allen, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso in unspecified roles.
The Flash is slated for a theatrical release on June 23, 2023.
