Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever is the next Marvel film after Thor: Love and Thunder so naturally we were expecting that Marvel would drop a trailer for the film at SDCC’22. They of course did and what a trailer it was! The trailer confirmed a lot of things we were suspecting. We official know that T’Challa is dead. The film would start from that point as Wakanda has no King. We got out first glimpse at Namor and Riri William’s Ironheart. However, along with that we got the first hint at the new Black Panther. The emotional and amazing trailer ends with a brief shot of a new person in the Black Panther suit. In the background, the figure that is getting up from the ground looks like Namor. So, who is the new Black Panther? I think we’ve all heard theories and some might have their own theory.

I think we can all agree that the list for the new Black Panther includes Shuri, Nakia, M’Baku and Killmonger. Well, today I’m going to theorize based on the trailer who is most likely to dawn the Black Panther suit after the sad demise of Chadwick Boseman. I’m going to narrow down the possibilities as to who will be Wakanda’s next Black Panther.

Who is the New Black Panther 2? Shuri?

Shuri is T’Challa’s sister, after him it would make sense that she’d become the Black Panther. She is already the head of Wakanda’s lab which I think is the most advanced lab in the entire world. What I’m saying is not an imagination of mine, such an event did take place in the comics as well. In 2005’s Black Panther Vol. 4, T’Challa was nearly killed in confrontation with Doctor Doom. Shuri then stepped into the spotlight and became Black Panther herself. Where in the absence of T’challa, Shuri took the mantle of Black Panther when adversity fell on them.

Is Killmonger Going to Be The Villain?

Now, this is a possibility that I’m most excited about. Especially because Michael B. Jordan did such good job playing the complex character. To the point where I found Killmonger’s ideology more convincing. If you take a look at the suit he figure is wearing its not the Black-white or Black purple suit that T’Challa used to wear. It is the Black-Gold suit, Killmonger used that suit. Now I know some people might say the suit color is simply a fashion choice but I’d like to disagree. Shuri would always honor T’Challa by wearing the same suit, as he did.

As he’d clearly mentioned the point is to not be seen. Also, the entire trailer has great music. Be it the No woman, No Cry by Bob Marley or Kendrick Lamar’s Alright. Each song definitely has significance in the trailer, including the lyrics. Note that point. The last shot of the the trailer where the figure pops up in the Black Panther suit. The song ends with, “And when I wake up…” If this has significance, then that can only mean about Killmonger waking up. Interestingly, Shuri and T’Challa’s mother very painfully says, “I’ve lost my entire family.”

Well, T’Chaka and T’Challa I understand but Shuri is still alive so…? Maybe she dies in the first half of the film and meets Killmonger in the ancestral plane. Or maybe she goes there by choice to resurrect Killmonger but for that she needs his body. As, to resurrect T’Challa in the first film they needed his body but wasn’t Killmonger’s body deposited in the ocean? So I don’t know how that will happen is something to see. To go to the ancestral plane without dying she has to regenerate the heart shaped herb as they were destroyed by Killmonger.

Let me know which of these possibilities is the more likely one? Which one do you prefer? Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is slated to release on 11th November 2022.
