Marvel President Kevin Feigi announced almost the entire Marvel line-up for the next three years. One of the more interesting announcements was two Avengers films in one single year. The Avengers films have always been Marvel’s gold standard, huge crossover event that happens after a lot of build-up. Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were the only films that released in the span of 1 year but getting two Avengers films in one year, that’s rich. The two films are called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. They’ll be released six months apart from each other. Both the titles are directly taken from comic book titles. The more interesting of the two titles is Secret Wars.
Avengers: Secret Wars Multiple Spider-Man Variants?
Secret Wars is based on the 2015 comic of the same name. The comic’s story focuses on a Multiversal war and events called as Incursions (This was referred to in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) that threatens the destruction of entire universes. With Kang already making an appearance in the MCU and all set to appear again it is only inevitable that everything culminates with Secret Wars. Previously, Russo Brothers were rumored to direct the X-Men reboot and Secret Wars for the MCU. However, last month while promoting the Gray Man they revealed they’re not associated with the project.
At SDCC’22, Kevin Feigi confirmed their statements as he said they’re not associated with the project. However, now we have more rumors about the film. As it is a multiversal event there will be multiple versions of a lot of characters. Based on this logic there is a rumor that is going around the internet, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will return as their respective Spider-Man Variants in Avengers: Secret Wars. The leak comes from a reputed source, DanielRPK who has previously leaked a number of Marvel stuff that has turned out to be true. The leak also suggests that Patrick Stewart will return as Professor X in Secret Wars.
Patrick Stewart’s only MCU appearance was in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness where he belonged to Earth 838. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men’s appearances were in Spider-Man: No Way Home. They were clearly from different universes but their universes were no named. If this rumor is true we’ll be getting hints of this in the upcoming films. However, if this turns out to be true, the fans are going to go crazy.

Avengers: Secret Wars was slated to release on 7th November 2025.
